Hi all,
Finished on Ihr so just updating those who are thinking of Ihr
Full timer:
34weeks +
12weeks pilion as over 12 yr service
+ Holidays owed £21950 after tax taxed only on holidays owed tho.
912 shares = £3730 taxed free as good leaver.
Full £21950 last payslip, shares 3 week later
Total £25680
Straight into fulltime job, Mon-fri driving for jewsons, will miss the outdoor side and lads banter when sorting and the courier mag for cat litter tray, but not the harassing managers , lapsing , working over and not getting paid for it,or arguing when leaving in and the tired legs
All the best lads hope they one day stop ripping the job to bits

Snap and ditto mate, just finished on ihr myself, awaiting final payment this week.
Are you forced to sell shares back or is there an option to retain them ?
hasn't quite sunk in yet but after 19 bone crunching years I'm free to find an alternative life, I feel for those still employed as I think the job wont be the same in a couple of years time.

I got IHR in May last year and haven't looked back since! Like has already been said i miss the banter but not the job itself, i started to hate it, so when the opportunity arose i happly took it! Good luck to all the people still in the job!

Saddler: your not forced to sell shares, but if you sell them later on you may pay tax worth phoning them good luck

How much holiday were you owed? So you only get taxed on the holiday then not the pilion?
I didnt want to go at one stage but am happy to be getting out now, looking for a lighter job & never want to think of this job again, feel sorry for all the ones im leaving as its only going to get a whole lot worse!

I hadn't any outstanding holiday, so I'm looking at £20,200 + shares, already sold the first wedge so got about 300 left = about £1200, so looking at 21. 5k tax free. LUVVLY JUBBLY.
applied for quite a few jobs and got my first interview next week, also got to have interview with the job centre Nazis next week.

i'm going next week with IHR ... been with the business since 1990 started on april the first and finishing on april the 1st ... but i'm not so lucky .. i slipped and fell on a elderly couple's path last spring by the time i finished my delivery i could hardly walk and was off for days ... and ever since i have had niggling problems with my back and on the 11th of January my back went when i was out on delivery i couldn't walk for the pain in my lower back i was diagnosed with having arthritis in my lower back if i stand longer than 10 minutes i start getting severe pain on my lower back ... i will miss a great bunch of lads

the only kind of job i can do now is doing a desk job

sorry to hear about your problems, hope it all works out for you in the future! Im sure your body will benefit from nolonger doing the job, what desk jobs do you have in mind?

i don't know yet i am good with computers though, i can build them in my sleep .. i've had a PC since 1996 for a wee spell i did some coding/programming ... i'm not into hacking though ... not my bag

i wish you all the best as well halfull have a great retirement from Royal Mail ... i fear we might not be the only ones leaving the business soon with the direction Royal Mail is going

And thanks for the info, always nice to actually get some facts, instead of Bullshit. With the amount of you getting out with IHR I think we'll have to start a new forum, perhaps "Purple Shirts"?

Hi I left on ihr end of April last year, problem with arthritis .I was lucky enough to pay my mortgage off .I now work part time delivering prescriptions .Far less walking to do so the pain in my joints have improved.Dont miss Royal Mail at all I now work for a company who treat me fairly and I'm enjoying the work.
