Who cares? Most see nothing but a dead man walking, an irrelevance, someone sidelined by and not a part of the current highly-charged political events. Smart money seems to be on Starmer now...

Starmer is an intelligent, highly educated man with an excellent CV in a proper job, he is without the privileged upbringing, has little baggage from the Blair years and hasn't been tainted by years of sitting in a comfortable Westminster armchair. He is used to fielding difficult questions and comes across well in the media.

I would imagine Momentum hate him.

Who cares, he's not Corbyn, and that's all that matters at the moment.
Been a Hell of a lot of political turmoil this week, but it seems no-one from any branch of the media cares what the present incumbent of the leader of Her Majesty's Opposition thinks on any aspect of it whatsoever.
Says it all, really.
The old fool's defunct, so let's hope he's removed in time for the expected anti-Indyref2 Labour bounce in the polls coming soon, so Labour can take full advantage of the SNP's shoddy one-trick-pony political stance and it's apparent unpopularity with many Scottish voters.

Sorry to revive the thread - but I've got to pass comment on Tom Watson - a man who, I have to say, I voted for as deputy leader.

Isn't it about time there was a deputy leadership challenge - preferably from someone who is willing to toe the party line and who is more in tune with the membership ?

In the last couple of weeks Tom Watson has made an underhand attempt to disrupt Len McCluskies re-election as leader of Unite (who as we all know is a left winger and supporter of Corbyn) - and then today he comes out and backs Trumps airstrikes on Syria - even though his party leader had already condemned them.

Corbyn says black, Watson says white.

How can the party present any sort of coherent vision to the public when this man is flagrantly working to his own agenda and perpetually undermining the leader ? That isn't democracy at work Tom - thats treason.

Suffice to say I'll not be backing the bloke again

Perhaps Watson is like you, jet...he "doesn't like leaders"?
Or being more pragmatic, he sees which way the wind is blowing ( or has long since blown, really).
Either way, he's just another non-entity who used to back some gray-bearded hopeless eejit, but just like Jezza, his future is all behind him.
Does any but the most desperate media hack ask Jezza his opinions on anything, even in these turbulent days?

Aye jet, I'll just bet dear old Tom is in a panic knowing you no longer back him. Hey don't be sorry about resurrecting the thread jet it's a source of great amusement to see you pontificating about dear old pacifist jezza. Trump was absolutely right to make a show of strength in light of the use of chemical and biological weapons. As for coherent vision the leadership has tunnel vision and will soon be consigned to a defeat unprecedented in modern times. I genuinely feel sorry sorry for MPs who will inevitably lose their seat and therefore representation of genuine labour supporters but not necessarily members of the labour party.

Trump does what he does best, he judged where the popular opinion was and followed it. He's no leader but he isn't stupid either, Corbyn is not a leader and he's too daft to realise that an attack on civilians using chemical weapons, a weapon of mass destruction according to the UN needs a response that lays down some red lines.

Trump is a dangerous arsehole but he's predictable, Corbyn just makes people nervous.

I will say this about Trump he doesn't project a Presidential image and I'm not too sure he knows what he's doing but I think he chose right to attack Syria in a limited fashion.
