How much are managers paid?
There is a scale:
DoM £67,589 + max 15% Performance.
Manager £54,875 + max 15% Performance
Lino £44,897 + max 15% perfomrance.
Performance Bonuses: (DOM rates, pro-rata to salary for managers/linos)
1. Bullying bonus:
0-5 Bullied £1,000
6-10 Bullied £2500
10+ Bullied £ 4,000
+£1k for each one that leaves as result if F/T, £750 if P/T to a max of 5 leavers.
2. Lapsing Bonus:
For each above leaver's round subsequently lapsed and forced onto rest of office:
Up to £5000 if none done on docket but forced into normal hours, sliding scale reduced down for every 10% not forced into normal hours, in £500 increments.
3. Purchase Orders Reductions bonus:
Complex, but essentially a percentage saving of office costs to a max of £3750 PA. Various items have different rates, (40% of the cost of each box of rubber bands for example, less than the average used for your size office). Each PDA battery not replaced when due has a 33.33% bonus rate, and all docket not entered and not spotted by the OPG's has a handsome 50% rate.
4. Management Substitute O/T bonus:
For each hour spent on frame, IPS or throwing off and not offering the work to an OPG, £5 (extra to salary already being paid) up to a maximum of 250 hours (£1250 lump sum) PA.
5. Spurious Disciplinary Supplement:
Basically on a 10% scale of savings made by dismissing OPG's entitled to IHR or EVR or ER as opposed to the 5-figure sums they would've been entitled to being Good Leavers.
6. Survey Payment:
A fixed £500 sum for having 95%+ Employee Satisfaction Surveys returned on time with the correct boxes checked to ensure a minimum 80% total satisfaction rate among OPG's.
(i) The combined payment of the above bonuses shall not exceed 15% of the Gross Salary of the manager in any one financial year.
(ii) In the event an manager's office is too small to realistically achieve these extra payments, placement at a bigger DO on a temporary basis is permissible until they are achieved, once the managers at that DO have already reached target.
DoM £67,589 + max 15% Performance.
Manager £54,875 + max 15% Performance
Lino £44,897 + max 15% perfomrance.

So not much better off than ft for all that hassle.
I know for a fact they get the same bonus. I've been there.

How much are managers paid?
If a acting manager takes over a role of say a night line manager he would get his normal contract PAY plus extra to top it up to the usual night managers PAY.aiden01 wrote:So you are saying acting managers get same as ft managers know for a fact they dontrubberbond wrote:The same as the others get. Covering a line manager when acting is around the same extra PAY as working a day off

Personally I am clocking down my last 10 years just taking the money. In any other business our line managers wouldn't last five minutes, a real opportunity exists for RM to make considerable savings without impacting on service levels.

If you hadn't put the Bullying in I would probably have fallen for that mate. I know a Manger's Bonus depends on lot's of different boxes needing ticking, including WTLL, Have your say returns, Limiting Overtime, Getting Duties lapsed, Hitting 2D scan percentages etc. Anyone got a link to all those boxes? I believe prepping duties must be one as most Mangers seem to like throwing off walks or IPS.bustedflush wrote:There is a scale:

I really don't think greed is a financial issue. Its more of a heart issue.
DOMs used to be on a fantastic salary years ago but just like a lot of line managers, a lot of them got well paid off and left the business to do other things.

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

TBH I can understand DOMs getting disheartened, They are Basically just "Yes Men". They sit on the Telephone Conference and the DMS tells them what to do.
If they offered DOMs more independent authority on how to organise, and run, their Delivery Offices (and actually believed them when they said, "I'm sort staffed I need to recruit") I'm sure we'd get better results.
This Business is a joke when it comes to Low Level Management. I could imagine one of these Business Trouble Shooters looking at Royal Mail and having a Bloody Good Laugh.

That is a very good point, effectively they are not allowed to manage, just follow the script and do not deviate. Remember the mantras :Dorset Plodder wrote:TBH I can understand DOMs getting disheartened, They are Basically just "Yes Men".
