Hi!
I just received a job offer of postwoman part time hours (8-2) 5 days across Monday - sat.
Do you get your shift in advance? or can you request days? I just need to know so I am able to sort out childcare.
Any help with this would be much appreciated! They haven't really given much information.
Thanks,
Charlotte

Depends on the organisational skills of your particular manager. Some seem able to plan 2 or even 3 weeks in advance, others cobble something together at the last minute. Worst case you may find out Friday what days you are working the following week, best case a week before that.

We tend to find out on a Friday what we are doing the following week, even then that could change.

I'm fairly new and do 8-2 four days a week. I only find out on a Friday what days I'm working the following week. I love the job but it's a real pain to plan cover for school holidays and I can only do it because my husband has some flexibility in his job and we have the grandparents nearby.

Is it not possible to swap shifts with a colleague of you find somebody else who is fairly flexible?
