PEGASUS

Post by davidessex »

Can anyone explain the walk testing under the pegasus method. i believe the old method of walk testing is no longer being used by rm, in the near future every walk will be designed or set up under a computer designed programme which times your walk down to the smallest details. for example the total length of the pathways you walk , cycling time, number of drops ect. i have heard the " new " walks will be introduced shortly. they have one advantage that different duties in each office will be balanced out more fairly. as a very senior opg i am all for this. what i am worried about is how big these walks may become. i think rm are hoping to lose quite a few of the 40,000 employees by making our walks heavier, thus having a surplus of staff. i hope that a cwu rep of high rank can give us some info on this site, rather than us peasants alarming each other with what if,s and maybes.

It's Geo Route now,and some of the guys on here have had it done.
Seems to be mixed results, depends if the DIMS are fiddleing the numbers.
But there is no official agreement yet on it to be used, although it still is.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

under SDD there is a 3.5 hour walk limit and i can't see anything in the new agreement that suggests this will be increased

In my old office... E17 we had 75 walks and 6 drives and 2 bag drops wit some packets and a 2 packet drivers as well..

Now we had RED And BLUE walks in E17 London... Biggest EASTERN office outside E1 DO... We had pegasus chart our walks in 97-98 and the RM 2000 frames... SHITEHOUSES..... MOST OF THE WALKS WERE OVER 3.5 HOURS THEN JUST FOR A GP..... Biggest walk was a KILLA.... 9 10 11 BAGS EASY.... Back then...

So when Pegasus rolled in ALL SINGING AND DANCING... We thought it would cut the uneven walks down.. MORE WALKS we thought????

HAHAHHAHA :speak to the hand :so there :no no NO FECKING CHANCE..... The point we needed 9 more walks to take the walks from worst to best and even all out this is the amount we needed.... SO... WOT HAPPENDS????

FECK ALL....

Ive left that office (THANK FECK) AND now as jobs needed to be cut in every office to reach EP levels.,, SAVE HOURS!!! WALKS HAD TO BE CUT....

Now they cut 5 walks 70 walks now !!!!!!!!! So from the start of PEGASUS.. 75 WALKS... NEEDED 9 MORE... NOT DONE.... THEN

CUTS AND NEW GEO-ROUTE comes in how many more walks will be cut????

I feel for you DO boys n girls i do as ive done my time pounding the streets.. LOTS of newbies come straight into a MC and a cushy job... While good senior people CANT GET A PLACE IN A MC WHEN THEY MIGHT NEED IT BECAUSE OF INJURY ON DUTY OR JUST AGE AND THE JOB IS TO MUCH FOR THEM.... Its a fit young mans job i feel... I dont mean no disrespect to ladys doing the job as its fecking hard.... IF DONE CORRECTLY TO 318... It just goes to show me and many others that have taken an interest in the amount of work we have taken as delivery people over the years for less moneys.... FACT..... Wage increases NEVER cover the increase in work volumes..... TELL ME IF IM WRONG DELIVERY PEOPLE!!????

OUT :cfo :lfo STAND UP AND FIGHT THE BASTARDS!!! NEVER LET EM GRIND US DOWN!!!

3.5 hr walks

Post by gspot01 »

Take it from me the rumbling has already started.

Certain managers have already said that if the new agreement is accepted then it supercedes the old STD agreement. Basically what that means for the walk postie is that the 3.5hr delivery span is no more.

Vote for the future, not for any small gain you might get now. If this goes through the future is bleak.

VOTE NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Georoute is nothing to do with equalising walks. It is a money saving device. nothing more, nothing less.
In our office we lost several walks and had some vans taken off us making some van duties into trolley duties.
We had no choice in whether it was accepted or not. The only vote we had was concerning whether to have a re-pick or not, and even that was mis-handled.
We still have some walks that are too short and some that are too long.

I believe they have said that about every change we've ever had, but the reality never lives up to the expectation.

Our area delivery rep told me recently that within 2 years the delivery span will be 4 hours. God help those of us who are 40+ years of age in this job. We can only look forward to walking with sticks in our fifties.

I couldn't care less anymore how big the walks are. I work 7am 'til 1pm 5 days per week and that is that. I am willing to discus Long and Shorts but I will not be flexable.
