Yodel set to close Horndean depot

A PARCEL delivery service looks set to close its Horndean depot with the loss of 32 jobs.

Bosses at Yodel confirmed yesterday (Tuesday) that they were proposing to close their Hazleton Industrial Park depot next month. The depot is one of five across the country that has been earmarked for closure as part of a “continuing drive to improve operational efficiency”.

The firm, which works with a variety of sectors including fashion, leisure, home, garden and electrical, will transfer its services to depots in Farnborough and Fareham.

“Currently the site employs 32 people,” said a spokesman. “We recognise that the type of change proposed is not easy and we are consulting with employees and the relevant trade unions.

“Wherever possible we will offer roles in other parts of our network and we will also be offering outplacement workshops and JobCentre engagement as further support in finding new opportunities.”
