Dorset Plodder wrote:It will cost jobs CR that's why it wouldn't be a good idea. There would be no need for Reserves.... so they'd all lose their jobs. Just because you find Saturdays a pain....would you want anyone in your office to lose their job? :hmmmm

Personally I find Saturdays an easier day than the rest of the week and treat them as a "Treat", less mail and finishing on time (for a change). :thumbup

this has all been planned out for last 10 years it didnt just happen
and the cwu have been complicit in the destruction of good jobs with rm over that time
too many greedy executives with too many fingers in pies so to speak
It's because of people like you,who have been here 30 years and are protected from the crap that the lowly reserves put up with, like none in none saturdays off,no chance of a permanent duty,no chance of a decent duty, even.so to blame reserves is palpably absurd. You're not the only one who can generalise.

Yes its not easy being a reserve, but lets not forget that even the long serving staff were reserves once. Personally I never saw a Sat off till the 5 day week kicked in , which was many years after I started . As for easy duties, there are many with less service than me with a better duty. Still when you are on the bottom rung ,so to speak. The only way is up.

Ive just had my duty cut to 24hrs a week. so I have to get off it. after being on it for 6 years ive got 21 years in. it does not mean s**t to rm anymore. as long as managers get there 30k wage plus bonuses for all the cuts and lapsing. They don't give a s**t how it affects people in the office. I will be using a trolley on whatever round I pick. I will probs pick a round where everyone else has to move around because ive picked there's. sick of the job but need the money or else I would be off. also going forward. the pension is not worth paying in anymore. out at 55 is my plan. good luck everyone :wave :wave :arrrghhh

Don't blame the reserves Hans solo it's people like you that allowed it to happen.
There are lots of selfish I'm alright jack types who cause the devicive atmosphere at RM.
Where were you when the changes for new staff to be part time reserves came in? Working to rule? At the gate on strike to stop it happening? No didn't think so!!
How many Saturdays were you sick last year so reserves have to work them every week?
They joined to conditions that were already in place.
Enjoy your retirement!!

i was pt for 8 years before being made up to full time
we (not i) were the area that started the last major ia before the 2012 cwu capitulation
btw it was mail centres and pt opg who accepted rm/cwu terms not full time staff
we asked for a rule 13 local ballot in do to support sacked UNFAIRLY dissmissed colleague
who do you think voted rule 13 down PART TIME opgs why
they didnt want ia in case it affected their overtime :evil/mad :evil/mad :evil/mad :evil/mad

Any deal good or bad is always voted in or out by DO staff as DO staff outnumber all other staff by at least 2:1

Working on that basis SP, how did they manage to vote in the changes to Household Payments? :whistle We ALL get the same "Delivery Supplement" now, whether we're simply pushing a York full of them onto a Truck, or having to prep 7 Households into a double slot frame. :hmmmm

It was"possible" to make £80 a week on the Old D2Ds, I'm sure most Posties didn't vote to cut their income to £24, but somebody did? :cuppa

9-5 Mon - Fri is the way to go, no one would complain about that, I'm sure managers would also be happy about it.
the public couldn't careless, Offer VR to anyone who wants out, no need for rest day covers.
RM would save bucket loads of cash in the long run, shareholders would be happy, the only people against it would be the CWU execs in their ivory towers, who like a do as I say attitude and never work a Saturday theirselves.

I thought they did if there were any deliveries working out of that MC?

Is this a wind up mate? :hmmmm Surely you're having a giraffe? I'm sure this is the sort of thing RM is after, then all they've got to do is tinker with the T&Cs and they could get some of us working 9-5 on Saturday & Sunday as well!

As this is a Discuss Forum I'll respect your right to have a view, and not call you names, but is that the kind of job YOU would really like? If so I'm sure it would be easier for you to leave RM for such a job. ( There are thousands of 9-5 jobs out there). Instead of asking literally thousands of Posties to take VR to tailor a Business to suit you! :hmmmm
