- your opinion is irrelevant.
Is that it?
I am like a manager and my opinion is irrelevant?
That is a really well thought out argument isn't it?
We could debate why my opinion is irrelevant and yours isn't but let's not even go there.

First off I am not assuming anything. I see on a daily basis the people who do not want to do an honest days work. The ones who push empty yorks about for half an hour every morning. The ones who park up at B&Q for an hour to avoid doing any more work.
The ones who need 3 hours to prep a duty anyone else would do in under an hour.
The ones who hide their D2D under a colleague's frame or block the fire escape.
I could go on and on.

It is a simple fact that there are a lot of people in RM who have made a career out of doing as little as possible.
There are a lot of useless selfish w*****s in the business. And the only people who really get upset at that term are usually useless selfish w*****s themselves.
I have no time for people who are blatantly dishonest. It isn't a trade union trait I recognise.
Who exactly does the CWU represent nowadays? Honest and hardworking people or the feckless and workshy?
You Tommy"rep" have clearly nailed your colours to the mast.

Horses for courses. You are, like all managers ASSUMING a bit too much. Nothing is alike on day to day delivery, duty to duty and you well know it. If over, you get paid simple, it's not your call - your opinion is irrelevant.

He is not a manager, and even if he was, why in a forum that allows free speech (within the rules) is anyone opinion irrelevant. You may not be calling him a manager, and you may be stating that his opinion is irrelevant to you, but you could make it clearer.

Clash.
Ok, you ARE assuming all the rest of us work in places similar to you ! We don't.
It is not a scenario I recognise st my workplace. My colleagues are mainly very good at their jobs - generally, and many still get intimidated daily for workload, absorption situations unfairly.
Strangely like your place the w*****s get left alone, generally. . .? Wonder why ?
If you see it on a daily basis, your linos will see it as well. If they don't there will be plenty around to report it.
I have "clearly nailed my colours to the mast " oh, well you don't know the first thing about my colours,or ME, so you are assuming again. May make it clear to you, I gave absolutely no time for shirkers, no time at all.
IF I knew people were dumping d2d etc, and incriminating on other innocent - well my colours are firmly on the mast of the innocent party.. I will always speak up in defence of any downtrodden colleagues - it is the mainly young/new part timers that are treated like s**t by RM management and many of the w*****s you make reference too.
I did not mean to assume you were in fact a manager, it was in the context of a manager ASSUMING that if a duty is done on time ONE day, it will be easily done on time the next !!
Wind yor neck in, speak up in defence to bullied picked upon colleagues, the old soldiers and w*****s you describe do exist and they are a problem, a problem for management yo deal with. Big bully that you are, - joking !

As I have already said to clash, I did not intend to say HE was in fact a manager. My point was managers do assume a lot on delivery situations on a daily basis. Clash, did give the impression that a given workload could be achievable if the OPGs did not drag their heels to amass docket - mischievously I may add.
A simple case of ASSUMING the worse, being of the assumption he was in fact from the dark side.

Allowing lazy bastards to get away with being lazy bastards is a management failing.

That has nothing to do with the issue of sad little ( usually ) men gathering in groups to discuss how slow and useless their colleagues are. Usually this "banter" is not based on fact or reality but actually more a case of abusing people they don't like or see as "different" to themselves, sometimes it also includes racist, sexist and homophobic undertones. Sometimes management like to join in. Why anyone would try to defend such behaviour is beyond me. It's pathetic.

I used to be a snail , I mean last one back . If your light I think its best to pace it as normal load . If your heavy dont try to get back early like some kind of super hero or you'll just end up being a mule picking up the mess or moved to where the hardest work is .

Agreed. It is far better to just plod around and let someone else do the hardest work. After all it is not as if we are all paid the same rate.

Why would a trade union allow such behaviour to go unchallenged?
Didn't Linda Roy send round a reminder about the use of language within the office after the ambulance worker (?) was sacked for using the N word?
We all have a personal responsibility for the language we use. We all have a personal responsibility for our workrate?

Surely a round takes as long as it takes.
Some people clock watch and speed up or slow down to finish at the same time , others treat it as a race.
Its better just to not bother clockwatching and just go at a steady pace, some things will slow you down ie. PDA problems or speed up with a loop with less parcels.
Too much reliance on speed, just relax and do the round its not a race.

If the line manager is any good they should spread the load once they see stuff coming back to the D.O but if you go round like a nutter just to complete then your not just making the job harder for your self but for people who are expected to do the same work.
Im flexible ..if im with a slow worker , I take it easy, if im with mr speady, I pick up the pace .
I certainly dont bitch about people being slow . There's a happy medium .
Everyone gets their turn . Sure let the super hero's have their crack but they'll soon start complaining when they get stuck with it like in my D.O where the fastest suddenly start snailing it and become the very thing they despise :Applause

Except where they are being inappropriately vindicated and represented by the CWU. Which, ultimately, shafts us all.

Yes - its a question I've asked occasionally myself. I think its a question that reps would do well to ask themselves from time to time - and i know that most do.

I know it isn't a popular line to take - and for obvious and justifiable reasons - but I almost completely agree with you.
I wouldn't say, however, that there are a lot of scammers. Only a few.

True Blue Terrier.
It would appear my last post has been removed or deleted from the forum.
If so, what rules did I infringe ? Is right to reply not allowed ?
Or is it the case one posters just get free and while others don't.
Is "clashcityrocker" not above questioning ?

The quite starting " it us a simple fact there are a lot of people in RM who have made a career out if doing as little as possible ....." is NOT my quote. Think it was made by clashcityrocker.
Bit confusing, on your post it looks like being attributed to me !

Why did you cut this part from my comment?
Why anyone would try to defend this behaviour is beyond me
And then ask me why a trade union would allow such behaviour to go unchallenged?

As for your assertion that we all have a personal responsibility for our workrate, Indeed we do but I don't have any responsibility for your workrate and nor do I have any right to criticise it. The initial point of this thread was what exactly? Nobody has to carry anyone in this job, you are asked to work to a very loose and easily achievable set of official standards and you have a start and finish time, what anyone else does makes no difference to those two criteria.

Fishtank, some posters are, !
Masters of cut and paste to their own advantage.
It would appear highlighting that fact is in breach of rmchat protocol.
Any right if response is denied, and the cyber bullies are allowed to freely attack people's performance when it is firmly a managers job.
