Just wondering what I should wear for my first week as I've had the information leaflet emailed to me that says you can't order uniform until your employment has began. Judging by other posts on here I've seen that it takes around a week for your uniform to be delivered. So was wondering what the best thing to wear would be for my first week.
I have black combats from the job I'm in just now. Probably similar to the grey ones that are issued by Royal Mail. I have a pair of fawn cat boots I could wear or would these not be ideal for walking the distances that I would be covering? For top Half I have a few plain black t-shirts I could wear and I think I have a fleece and a blue waterproof I could wear over the top if it rains? I have my own yellow high vis I could wear but I assume they'll have spare RM ones in the office.
Another thing I was wondering about when I start is that I know I'm going to loss a fair few inches around the waist so was wondering if it's best to order a smaller size in the trousers or go for the size I am just now?

The combats sound fine, as long as they are comfortable and fairly loose fitting with several pockets. Jeans are a no as they can be tighter fitting and will absorb any rain. In general, lightweight and comfortable everything. No logos etc, other than maybe on your footwear where it can't be avoided. Comfort and a good grip for footwear - you could well be walking around 10 miles or so, so don't go too expensive as they will wear out. Be prepared for all weathers and take a spare layer or two - I take a small back bag with me with extra items in. Maybe a hat/cap too and some gloves. Not uniform, but a few pens as well.
You should be issued with a fluorescent over-vest but apart from that you're on your own! If you are on a permanent contract they should get things ordered when you start, if it is only a temporary contract you may have to wait.
Wish I'd lost a few inches round the waist! I am still wearing the same size clothing as when I started.

It's a permanent contract. Thought jeans would be a bad idea. I only have a Nike cap but will pick something unbranded up before I start. Probably better with a beanie with the weather how it is just now though. I had read on these forums about people getting sent home to change for having brand names showing. Will bring my bag with a few extra layers and some pens cheers. What sor t of gloves would be recommended?
Thanks.
Thanks.

cheap woollen fingerless, though most offices have them ready to dish out in bad weather.AceMark wrote:It's a permanent contract. Thought jeans would be a bad idea. Nike cap should be fine, beanie hat also ok - that sort of logo wouldn't be a problem at our place, but not sure elsewhere. I'm not keen on wearing one at all but have done a couple of times.
Gloves that you can flick through a pile of envelopes while wearing them. There are some RM issue fingerless gloves, but your fingers will get cold! I buy pairs from Poundland and the fingers wear away quickly, I have worn two pairs at once a few times lately! Same as with shoes, you could get some expensive cosy ones but they'll wear out quickly. Always have 2 pens with you, I have heard of RM issue ones but have never seen them - so again a pack of 10 or 12 in Poundland do me well, though some don't work!
EDIT - tbt typed quicker than me, must be wearing fingerless gloves

Filling out my Uniform order form so I can phone them on Monday, it says you can order up to 5 shirts. What's the norm? Says you can choose between Polo shirts, Short sleeved shirt and long sleeved shirt?

Depends on what you are comfortable with, polo shirts or shirts?
I ordered 2 tshirts, one long sleeved shirt and one short sleeved shirt.

Starting Uniform?
Not trying to hijack this thread, but I started on monday and I was told I should have had a link to where i can sign in and order uniform from. HR told me very abruptly to go speak to my dom, I then spoke to him and others in my office that I should have received a link to where I can order from.
Can anyone provide an answer to this bloody link and if you have it, can i have it! Also what would the login details be?
Just to add, I never received another external links with email correspondence when offered the job.
