Hi all,
Having worked as a Xmas casual back in 2011, I am really keen on returning to work permanently for Royal Mail, and to perhaps carve a career in the organisation.
However, I've been discouraged on a few fronts. Whenever I check for vacancies, the positions always seem to be only for part-time, fixed-term contracts. Moreover, as a non-driver, it's disheartening to find seemingly every role requiring a driving licence.
I'm not against taking driving lessons and attempting to get my licence. I just cannot afford to do so at this time. What's more, when I was hired as a Xmas casual in 2011, not only was my lack of a driving licence not an issue, but I definitely recall there being other 'veterans' who also didn't drive.
As a non-driver seeking to make a career within Royal Mail, am I chasing a lost cause?
By the way, I'm based in Newport, South Wales, if anyone wants to know.

Making a career out of Royal Mail
In deliveries non-driving posties are an endangered species. However outside of deliveries they will always need them.
