Working at another office

Working at another office for the day tomorrow & I've been ask to drive there in my own car which I'm not happy about. I'm sure you are not allowed to do that because my car isn't business insuranced anyone else been told to do that ?

"....commute to and from your place of work....." as long as you don't use it FOR work. On that date your place of work will be different so no reason why you can't commute there as you normally would.

You will get people point out that RM is supposed to transport you there and back from your usual DO.

I personally like going to other offices as I make a lot of money out of it. I normally don't do to much extra either it's all down to personal choice

and point out that as the agreement states you start at your normal place of work and then travel, you are not covered by normal insurance.

Provides cover as above for social, domestic and pleasure, and also cover to drive back and forth to a permanent place of work. Travelling to a railway station en route, where the car is parked, is classed as commuting. In addition, dropping someone else off at their place of work may also be classed as commuting – so it is worth checking the policy beforehand to double-check.

…And if the vehicle is being used in connection with work beyond simply commuting, then the insured will require a level of business cover:

'Appropriate travel arrangements' may be construed as transporting NON drivers to their alternative DO, but could be appropriate to ask a car commuter to drive straight there?

Secondly, I hardy see any insurance company refusing to pay if you drove to a different DO that day. Just because it says that, I hardly see an Ombudsman or Court considering it reasonable and fair that you would not be covered because your employer told you to report to work at a different building. My missus has to report to 2 different offices each week on a regular basis.

Unless you have a link to a case whereby an insurance company didn't pay because their insured drove to a different part of their employer's business?

I obviously wasn't covered for my induction as that took place miles away and wasn't my permanent place of work even though I was paid for it.

I phoned my insurance company and they told me I'm covered to and from my USUAL place of work.
Just don't use your on car make royal mail provide transport use your common sense

Common business journeys that may not be covered by a private policy include

Travelling to a training course
Going to the bank
Driving to the post office
Driving to another office
Attending company away days

and no it looks like you weren't insured for your induction. But as I mentioned, if unsure check with you insurer, you may indeed be covered but if you aren't.............................
