Uniform sizes

Post by chickypie »

I have to order my first uniform but am unsure what size to get, depending on what shop I buy from depends on whether I am a size 12 or 14 as what used to be a standard size doesnt seem to exist anymore anywhere, can any women posties out there let me know if Royal Mail uniform is standard or made small so I can make sure I get it right first time, dont want to have to keep sending things back til I get it right.

I had exactly the same problem!

I have measured inside the waistbands:

Size 10 trouserss - 31"
Size 12 shorts - 33".
Siize 14 trousers - 35". (I lost weight and had to get smaller size!)

When I got my uniform two years ago there were no ladies fit shirts so I have the man's red shirt size SMALL which fits me (about size 12) quite well. The fleece, is also size SMALL is really too big and I have to turn up the sleeves, but better than being too tight! I also got the waterproof trousers in SMALL which are far too long (I'm 5'6") but okay round the waist.

I had more trouble getting the right size footwear - had to send wrong sizes back.

Hope this helps!

This really does help, it gives me ideas of the actual sizes not just big or small, thank you so much

The sizes are men's. I would guess you need S. However, the Polo shirts are less roomy, so I'd go for a medium.

I'm a size 10 to 12 with a bit of a tummy at the moment! I wear the 10 shorts which are a snug fit but the 12 are a bit baggy and the rest of my uniform is small. It's easy to return and get a different size though so don't worry. They come with a return label and you just reuse the bag.

If you get some uniform and it's the wrong size just return it via your DOM. It's important to return it, and not just leave it in the cupboard, as it will count against your allowance. You won't be unable to order anymore until you "Un-used" uniform has theoretically worn out!

I've always found trousers the most problematic, aside from the horrible scratchy arse material they always seem to be too tight or too loose on the waste.

I'd recommend buying your own such as Craghoppers cargo pants, decent soft material, comfortable semi-elastic waste, quick drying.

Ask your Manager. I believe he has to do something on-line. I suppose you could check it out at the Dimensions Web Site. :cuppa

I'm not a lady but I will say that the fleeces are a bit of a weird size. I wear a size large polo shirt, fits perfectly, wear a size large fleece and it's really loose around the belly yet perfect in terms of length
