Your Doc has certified you as unfit for work. A meeting at the RM office is work. Ring or email him and tell him it's not happening and you will contact him when you are well enough to return. Tell him if he wants further details then ask RM occupational health to write to your Doctor who will charge them a nice large fee to reply, IF you consent which I wouldn't

Some of us have been thinking that his sort of behaviour by guvnors is a local thing. Well RMC shows that it's a national thing and that they must be acting on instructions from RM high up. Over to you CWU......................
How much worse can it get? A LOT F****** WORSE !!!

Just on a side note,
Do you know that you are entitled to have a union rep with you for any face to face wether it be in the office, another local office or your home?
Just agree to their request and mention that when you get in contact with the union rep you will arrange for a suitable time for the meeting which results in not only for the manager to arrange cover for themselves but also release time for the union rep to represent / assist you.

Barbel wrote:This is happening to me too. I went off last Wednesday, text manager and another work colleague at 4am (didn't ring in case they were still in bed) both acknowledged my messages within a couple of hours so were received. At around 12pm the same day manager just turns up unannounced out of the blue, sees I'm ill so believes me and off he goes. Today still feeling poorly so sees the GP and gets a sick note and signed off until next Wednesday. Rings my manager to explain the situation and that a sick note will be handed in tomorrow only to be told I have to go into the main office, which is 15 miles away from where I live, to have a face to face meeting. Now why on earth do they want a face to face meeting when he saw how ill I was last week, hears how ill I was on the phone today when I spoke to him and the fact I have a sick note from a doctor who has decided I'm too ill to go into work? I explained I'm not well enough to drive all that way for a meeting so suggested he come to my house for this face to face meeting. It just seems like a waste of his time and I really don't know what's going to be said that hasn't been said already that I'm ill and I won't be back until next Wednesday. Will they be ringing up your GP next?
This angers me so much
It is in the attendance agreement that contact should be made with the manager,By an agreed form (Text,Email,Phone) at agreed intervals.
The face to face meeting DOES NOT have to be done until the 28th day,Its in the agreement and is not applicable for short term abscenes.
Day 28 review
• By this stage of the absence the employee
and manager should have met face to face,
if at all possible. Discussion should focus on
any support that can be provided to help a
return to work as early as possible. If not
completed earlier, a referral for Occupational
Health advice should normally be arranged
at this point, unless an early return to work
is anticipated.

No this does not mean that a face to face interview does not occur until the 28th day of absence by the insertion of the word "By" and is open to interpretation meaning that sometime between the 1st day of absence and the 28th day of absence a face to face meeting should have taken place. This is why you have managers jumping the gun and looking for face to face meetings at the earliest opportunity. This is a loophole in the agreement that the CWU need to close.
