The problem is, it all just gets dumped onto delivery and they are expected to do it in the same amount of hours. Resource to workload and not to budget and then we may not have these problems and morale may even improve.
This I am sure is the root cause of all that is rotten at Royal Mail. It doesnt take a genius to work out you got to figure out how much it will cost to get the job done and then charge accordingly for it. NOT set a random price for a stamp, then squeeze everyone to make it happen. Thats what centrally planned economies like the Soviet Union did and it doesn't work. UK already has some of the cheapest postage prices in the EU.

That's pretty good considering some of the couriers are only getting 50p for actually delivering the things. And the DOMs not even got to get off his fat arse! TBH this Christmas seems to be a bigger cock up than usual, No Real Plan for assisting those with large duties, Not Enough Hire Vans... so any spare bods can't drive out to assist anyone. I'm taking the stance that if a Tracked doesn't get delivered 1st time, or one of those bloody 2D barcodes doesn't get scanned, or God Forbid a Special doesn't get delivered by 1300....... Big Deal! :speak to the hand Some might see this as an Unprofessional attitude....but then we do work for an Unprofessional company...so that's only fair I reckon!

While we're discussing the subject, when did we stop getting an Office Efficiency payment? We get all these charts saying 90% this 99% that....but they don't make a jot of difference to the average postie. :cuppa

Yeah we've been getting the "concentrate on the tracked" bollocks too. Though in saying that we've cleared EVERYTHING every day so far (aside from a few lorries turning up unexpectedly after everyone has already left for delivery) so we're doing pretty well as an office. But we don't have to fight to get paid for our overtime so (mostly) everyone is happy to do it. I've been out past 6pm delivering quite a few times this December...good for MY bank balance but I'm just waiting for the DOM to tell us in January that they've been spending too much on overtime payments and are gonna have to cut back :arrrghhh

:dance Don't ya just know that's gonna happen? Royal Mail crying Crocodile Tears, after their most profitable time of year, pleading poverty just incase they have to give someone a decent contract or a payrise! :Boo hoo!
