There is something quite spooky about our tracked items
There are ones with a label that says a signature is required and when it gets scanned.....no signature at all. And then there are the ones which definitely do need a signature and the intended recipient ain't in. In which case Im not even in the least bit tempted to try and offload it next door. Probably because I always forget to ask for their surname to sign for it, rather than the surname on the parcel - something which some customers often complain about....

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

volume of fraud customers using amazon/auction sites claiming non delivery I think also.
Its turned into a business with people openly offering there services through social media on how they will defraud the delivery service and claim non delivery etc.
Companies starting to 'cover' themselves against fraud anyway they can 'Item not delivered' one of them.

What amazes me is that they'd pay for technology BEFORE investing in the labour force by providing proper equipment and training. I think even something simple like getting Transits for everyone, PDA's you don't have to continually manage, plentiful rubber bands, satchels and golf trolleys would improve productivity massively. I honestly think an hour of my day goes trying to find the "right" bag in overstuffed Vauxhall Combi vans / Bippers, rubber bands, spare satchels and golf trolleys OR fiddling with a malfunctioning PDA. Why can't they get the basics right?Pompey Boy wrote:They always get it wrong. A few years ago they invested loads in letter sorting machines, while letter volumes were going down. They should have invested in packet/parcel sorting machines instead. Then buying the small delivery vans, which are now expected to carry two posties, two trolleys, 14 loops and all of the large packets. They keep getting it wrong and we pay for it

If there are 100,000 posties being paid £10 an hour wasting 30mins a day because of inadequate equipment, that is £500,000 wasted per day. Multiply that by say 250 working days a year, that is £125,000,000 or £125 Million wasted per year. I'm sure getting adequate equipment for the workforce would cost a fraction of that. Then bring in revisions to extend walks that amount or chop a couple of hours off full timers contracts. You could probably make a £100 million a year efficiency savings overnight. But will they do it?

That is purely down to the fact that no-one at the top of the business actually has a clue what Royal Mail is set up to do and what the job on the shop floor entails. This nonsense approach of wanting to be like every other courier company out there is killing RM and it's staff. Moya's legacy will be one f****d up business.
