A LORRY driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving after a seven-vehicle collision on the A420.
Thames Valley Police said the 43-year-old was currently being questioned by officers after the early-morning smash at Faringdon which involved seven vehicles.
Two lorries were involved, one owned by the Royal Mail and another by Hams Transport of Hopton Industrial Estate, Devizes.
Two men were taken to hospital with serious injuries after the crash.
Three more people were assessed by paramedics at the scene of the crash between the Park Road roundabout and Little Coxwell just after 7am.
South Central Ambulance Service spokesman David Gallagher added that a man in his 20s - driving a Toyota Yaris - was airlifted to the John Radcliffe Hospital with serious chest and leg injuries after being trapped in his car.
A man in his 50s driving a BMW was also taken to the same hospital but by road.
Neither are believed to be in a life-threatening condition.
The pile-up has caused queueing traffic westbound and Thames Valley Police has closed the A420 between Coxwell and Park Road.
Recovery work is taking place and emergency services remain on the scene.
