Why?
If using a HCT you attach it to something while you go in.
If it is part of a van share duty it will need to be done by the driver in the same way an oversize packet would.

It only blows the scenario out of the water if you don't want to do your job properly.
its a LIGHT weight trolley. and if the driver is doing ten 10 or 12 oversized packets you cant expect him to do a few signed for letters as well, just because some lazy idle bugger can't be arsed to come down and sign for his/her letter. its all time consuming as well which we DONT get factored into delivery time. if you ask someone to come down to sign for their letter, you can be posting all the rest of them whilst they are on their way down. if you go up, then you have to come back down as well, adding MORE time you do not have. and if your LWT has been stolen because you were upstairs delivering a signed for letter, who do you think will be blamed for leaving the trolley unattended. NOT the customer.

"If you have an item that needs to be signed for this will be delivered to the door to obtain the signature rather than left at the central point."

Is it just me or do all agreements deliberately fudge the phrasing so there's wriggle room for the masters of bullshit to reinterpret it to their advantage?

Of course you wouldn't leave it in the central point if you had to obtain a signature but are you duty bound to go upstairs to the addressee's door? Anyone follow me?

Indeed. The agreement that Royal Mail have is that they expect their staff to use the lightweight trolleys unless there are apartments or flats whereby a postie has walk up/down stairs - in which case the bag over the shoulder method is perfectly OK. Its Royal Mail's little 'get-out' clause. This means that a manager can question us when we are not using a trolley and at the same time possibly discipline us for having mail/packets stolen for leaving a trolley unattended as well.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

If they have difficulty with stairs there's nothing stopping them from moving to a home that has no stairs.
LOL yes break a leg or hip and the council will move you.
