What about the bit where is says about sorting and filtering them into the bundles whilst at the van ???
Yer right , what about space in the van on Wednesday to Friday, there isn't any.
Plus what if its raining or windy.
Who thought this up......... not a postie that's for sure

I'm in the union for them to negotiate fair deals and make our workplace safe, since we have been privatised apart form the 5 year T&C I have not seen any of this. I believe the union has become weak and they are not really looking at our interest, I will be coming out if things don't start improving....

What Rambo1 said
and what do the paying d2d customers think? i.e. we had £5 off £30 at a new iceland, they'd wonder why no-one came in on monday and tuesday! or even those £1000 fischer rads , they'd have a quiet 2 days

I like the way they say , work out the van or hct , but no mention of lwt as we don't carry bags anymore ?
, do they think every delivery has a single slotted frame to take where your going with mail , well we don't so how does that work on double slotted frames ? we do 2 full sections on a monday and 1 section for the rest of the week and with the frame being double slots we are taking 100 % full loops , so if it went weds - Friday that would be a fair and manageable workload ?
these clowns need to get a grip.

Might be part of the reason why RM are looking into XMS machines in MCs, if they can find a way to run d2s through an XMS machine then the d2d could in theory be sequenced with all the rest of the mail, the machine having a list of opt-outs and so not sorting a d2d to them addressesworktotime wrote:I like the way they say , work out the van or hct , but no mention of lwt as we don't carry bags anymore ?, do they think every delivery has a single slotted frame to take where your going with mail , well we don't so how does that work on double slotted frames ? we do 2 full sections on a monday and 1 section for the rest of the week and with the frame being double slots we are taking 100 % full loops , so if it went weds - Friday that would be a fair and manageable workload ?

Door to doors won't be sequenced would take too long.
They've be part of a separate bundle to blend on delivery....like places in Europe.
Sounds like hell

If the CWU allows this to happen, then that will be it as far as I'm concerned. I will leave the union and take my subs with me, and I would advise everyone to do likewise. It's bad enough we are forced to deliver this unwanted, unneeded, unasked for s**t, without every obstacle that the CWU/management can think of, being put in our way.
Enough, is a f***ing enough, CWU.

I heard the D2Ds will come to the office wrapped together. They are not to be sorted into the frame but taken out on delivery as they are and fed in with the mail.

So when they say 'fed in with mail' that effectively means carrying 2 bundles, yeah?? And using that method would mean we'd have to go to an address even if there is no mail on that day - because even on the heaviest days nobody has a 100% call rate! That's going to work great on deep rurals isn't it
Hopefully the union will try and stop this, however I don't hold out much hope

But our Combi vans are full on Wednesdays and Thursdays on our P/L round so where are the 2 of us going to do this sorting of D2D's into the mail ?? on a grass verge perhaps or a bus shelter seat,Spedley wrote:I heard the D2Ds will come to the office wrapped together. I think these numpties think our vans are half empty and our loops only have 4 bundles and 2 parcels in them. either they have been watching RMTV or watched that postman on Eastenders

That is all well and good on frames that are all single slots. I would estimate that less that 50% of the calls on my own frame, and for that matter all the frames in my office are single slots.IloveMYredTROLLEY! wrote:Weren't there a load of depots in the south-west trying various D2D strategies in the last 12 months? Such as...
100% D2D prep Monday, take where going with other mail Mon-Fri, Sat "mops up"
20% preped and delivered Mon, other 80% preped Tues (taken with other mail Tues-Fri, "mop up" Sat)
1/6th preped and delivered each day, regardless of any other mail for address
etc.

It is daft as what happens if the weather is too bad or the workload is too much in one day. We should be allow to decide when to do door 2 door over 6 days not try to make us to do it in 3 days.

It's gonna be fun on a WET WINDY day! Can you imagine the enjoyment we'll have...... probably balancing a Bundle of Mail on the bonnet and then trying to mess about with another bundle of Households? And then a Bloody Great Gust of Wind blows them all down the road.
Someone mentioned carrying two bundles. Some of our duties already do that because we have a last wave that arrives after everyone's bundled up. So they just make sure it's in Walk Order (should be if the A Plus is up to date Ha Ha) and tuck it under their arm. Now they'll have a bundle of Households as well!
I'm not against trying any new system BUT it's got to trialed AND ADJUSTMENTS HAVE GOT TO BE ALLOWED FOR. If it's just some exercise to save a few quid and doesn't work it should be binned!

Perhaps they will expect us to wear some sort of Utility Vest, with a large pocket for bundle of D2Ds, a large pocket for flats, and a large pocket for your bundle? Just needs a Utility Belt and we could pretend to be Batman/Batwoman
