XMS Machine

Anybody heard about these new XMS machines ?
I know they sort mixed mail - letters and flats - sort of a beefed up iLSM machine.
I believe they are being tested at the moment.
Any news/gossip/timetables on these machines and the implications for mail centres and delivery units?

For MCs they'll replace any iLSMs, IMPs and CFCs. CSS machines can be retrofitted to sequence flats as well.

For DOs in theory there'd be no IPS at all as all letters and flats will have been already sorted to at least walk level. If the XMS gets used for sequencing then in theory there'd be no prep frames as all mail would already be in walk sequence.

I believe that some MCs are in line to get XMS machines, my guess is all those that either can't fit in a T2K machine or that don't have enough flats to justify having a T2K machine. I actually wouldn't be surprised to see all T2K machines got rid of eventually and replaced with XMS machines.

Between them two I'd imagine it'd be possible for a MC to sort most small packets down to walk level with what's left over being what would get done by a parcel duty

There are going to be big changes to MC operations in the next few years.

How big are they relative to the size of a standard 20 stacker CSS machine?
