A postman found dead in a village lane has been described by his family as "a friend to many".

Police have named the man as David Charles Lamont and believe he was hit by a car.

A family statement said the 50-year-old - whose body was found in Burrow Hill Lane, Corley, Warwickshire, on Sunday - was a "father, grandfather, brother, postman, performer and friend to many".

Police are "piecing together" his final hours.

Det Insp Anna Middleton, from Warwickshire Police, said she believed that if a driver had been involved, they "would have known they had collided with something".

"We are keeping an open mind while we await the findings of the post-mortem; however, the evidence tends to suggest that he was in a collision with a motor vehicle."
