Because the business gets more revenue from d2d than delivering bank statements. When they keep the old nonsense of addressed letter volumes falling they seem to forget d2d maybe coz it ain't adressed. If we however forget to deliver said unaddressed items it's p45 time.stephen.cal87 wrote:Wouldnt it be great if there was NO JUNK MAIL! Maybe we could handle the amazon parcels if not more. Back to the op. If you think your dom is doing a crap job, and by leaving packets tomount up while some posties go home early, he most definitely IS!! Let moya know about it. We're expected to do our job so why shouldn't he (or she)? EVERYONE should be expected to work at least there contract hrs. If you don't want to work more, fine, but nobody should be working less. The regular people who get back early should be made to do more prep or ips in the morning as obviously their outdoor is too short. Your dom needs a boot up the backside from above. Don't whinge, tell moya.

Never had this in my office before. Tracked ALWAYS gets done, even if it means managers going out (once I even saw the area manager going out with it!) but non tracked and mail does very occasionally get left. Last year between xmas and new year, a lot of people were all of a sudden "ill" so we were dangerously understaffed. After New Year I came back to find myself doing a duty which hadn't been bloody touched (aside from tracked) since Christmas Eve

I'm fairly sure by addressed mail they mean hand-addressed, ie personal letters like birthday cards. I've only been here for 4 years but even in that time I can tell that the volume of mail (DSA, catalogues, business letters like bank statements etc) has gone way up, not down. My first summer we used to get days where whole streets would get no mail and you'd have to really drag your feet to finish later than 12. Same walk 4 years later and I'm having to cut off in the summer.rambo1 wrote:Because the business gets more revenue from d2d than delivering bank statements. Also, we had zero Amazon parcels at all over the summer, and now volume is picking up again we've suddenly started getting them again. I think Amazon just come and go depending on whether they can handle their own workload, and whenever they can't, RM is their only choice.

When we hear the phrase "We're under model" .. we just laugh ... one day we will be told how "the model" is calculated ... and we'll still laugh ...
... because figures on a linos clipboard versus what we see in front of us will NEVER equate - basically they're a bunch of cheating liars - and we continue to laugh in their faces ...

"We're under model" - oh no we're not - stick your lapse elsewhere ...

same old managers swapping and changing here , GET RID of 90% of the chart making coffee drinkers, needs new blood at the top, never heard of packets being left in, someone will mop them up surely. 2d barcodes are costing the business hours of o/t and more chart making, i only do a few each day and blame the dud pda's . RIP RM , it was good at one time.

RM have been telling us for several years we are a parcel delivering company managing a decline in letters.
If they truly believed that, most depot walks would be generated to solely deliver parcels that are attendance calls, due to them being too big for the letterbox and/or needing a signature. Other walks would deliver letters and parcels known to fit the letterbox of each specific address, because having been around for several centuries, RM would obviously have a database that shows the usable letterbox size of each address in the country. If an address has letters and an oversize/signature parcel, the letters would be taken by the parcel duty.
Time and time again, parcels are depots lowest priority, unless they are Tracked or Special Delivery.

We have so many Amazon parcels currently, that I feel more like a courier who occasionally delivers a bit of mail.
