There's a rural "office" (ie a wooden shed) 15 miles from my unit which has 4 members of staff. To my knowledge, our DIM, who is nominally in charge there, has never set foot in it. They seem to manage alright, because whenever I've visited the village on days off, which is fairly frequently, their vans are all parked up and done for the day a couple of hours before most in my office usually finish.

Leave a note, photograph it ,on our phone, get a witness. Anyway,no manager, no audit?Dorset Plodder wrote:We are often without a DOM, that doesn't bother me. What does bother me is...... How can you use the correct Over Running Procedure when there's not a DOM to inform you'll be finishing on time?![]()
You might say, "Just leave it in the frame and don't worry about it" but knowing my luck we'd have a snap audit and I'd get the sack for delaying the mail!

Small offices always get the best deal in Royal Mail
Its larger offices that get screwed because there are more posties working there and so when the business wants to cut costs its always the larger offices that bear the brunt of 'modernisation' first.
One of our rural offices allegedly still use post cycles!!
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Regularly our DOM has difficulty getting staff to cover sickness or holidays in the SPDOs because their walks are significantly longer than in the town.

I don't think they phone them just e-mail them that If they don't get back in they will not be needed in that office and may have a long commute like 50 or 100 Miles but one manager in our office said he would walk 500 Miles https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tM0sTNtWDiI" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but that is self proclamation.worktotime wrote:oh dear not a big loss then , whos going round to knock on his door to see if he can come back and do some indoor work , lol . oh and refer him/her to atos they will sort it out ,

You're lucky, we can't move 5 feet without tripping over a manager in our DOgone postal wrote:Tomorrow our office has no manager. The Dom is off sick long term, the deputy manager is on annual leave and the cover manager from a local office said it was his day off !!! What are the implications re this, surely there should be a duty of care by Royal Mail to ensure that someone is available.
