A city Alderman has vowed to get to the bottom of the “filthy” mystery involving human poo posted into MK mail boxes.

Former councillor Paul Bartlett said two post boxes in Galley Hill have recently had excrement smeared on the outside and even shoved inside.

“It beggars belief that any person would do this and contaminate personal mail that would undoubtedly contain greetings cards, personal and business letters,” he said.

Alderman Bartlett, who is also a member of Stony Stratford Town council for Galley Hill, has warned that CCTV could be placed in strategic places and DNA could be used to catch the culprit.

“At first it was believed it was dog poo, and to find it’s human makes one’s stomach turn,” he said. “Someone will know who this person is....their actions are not only filthy and disgusting but threaten the future of these much-needed post boxes. “I really feel for Royal Mail staff who have now experienced this four or five times.”
