Delays on the A511 in both directions after collision between motorbike and lorry

A busy South Derbyshire road is blocked in both directions after a collision between a lorry and a motorbike. According to Derbyshire Police, who are still at the scene, the incident was between a Royal Mail lorry and a motorbike.

It happened on Burton Road, the A511, in Midway. One man, believed to be the motorbike rider, is complaining of hip pain and his condition is described as non-life-threatening.

Police were called to the scene at 3.23 today (Monday, October 3) and part of the road remains blocked while the incident is dealt with.

Motorists are being warned to avoid the A38 this evening due to miles of tailbacks this evening during rush hour.

Traffic on the Northbound carriageway between Clay Mills and the Toyota Island to the A38 has slowed to a crawl. It is currently unclear what is causing this delay.

Further up the road there is very slow traffic on the A38 near the Markeaton Island, and similar issues at the turn off to Alfreton Road, with congestion stretching back to the Palm Court Island.

Due to an accident at junction 28 on the M1, the northbound carriageway on the A38 near Watchorn Island is almost stationary.

Traffic is also heavy in Burton town centre due to the diversions caused by The Statues fair.
