Christmas casuals
Does anyone know what the registration event is like? My registration event is on the 7th of October and if I get the job, does anyone have an idea of when I would start work? (I will choose weekends as my preferred days to work btw) Also what is it like working as a Christmas casual? Do you get treated any differently?

Easy and straightforward when you bring all the correct documents needed to be checked on the Registration Event - then you will be given date time of job offer.
If any documents are left out job offer will not be given.
You should have got email with subject Your Registration Event and telling you what documents to bring original and photocopies.
The 1st paragraph quoted below.

2: 1st week in December to 23/24 December
Just sorting of the Christmas letters and parcels.

CheersShifts will be allocated on a first come first serve basis at the Registration Events so we advise that you book early to avoid disappointment. For popular locations there will be an option to be added to a waiting list

I attended the Sheffield Xmas casuals registration last week, it was quite busy a fair few were getting knocked back with incorrect paperwork, that said I was in and signed up in less than 20 minutes.
Those doing the interviewing/checks looked like they'd had a tough day

Just received a call from Royal Mail regarding my Xmas causal work due to start on 21st Nov next Monday apparently 150 people have to go to a different location to the one previously agreed too
hopefully it'll not make much difference but having confidently organised myself for Monday, I must say it's really nice of RM to throw a spanner in the works.

I attended that one too, did have to laugh though as some of them in the queues didn't have anything, not even a correct permit to work. Why were they even there?beechwood wrote:I attended the Sheffield Xmas casuals registration last week, it was quite busy a fair few were getting knocked back with incorrect paperwork, that said I was in and signed up in less than 20 minutes.

My start date is on the 1st Dec so I hope I they don't try bouncing me from pillar to post.

I did a week at the old B&Q in Darnal total of 64hrs Mon-Sat last week
Received a call today been switched to the Mail centre Brightside, so expect pillar to post and you won't be disappointed.
The Darnal guys, management included were ok I feel bad as my manager at Darnal wanted me in this week, Royal Mail backside and elbows come to mind when organising staff.
So to my manager at Darnal Dave, sorry it looks like you'll be training someone else up on pricing, tracking etc.....
Shame really as I'd gotten used to both the layout and operations there.

Hi.
I.m new on here, so not sure if this is the right place to post this, but.
Today i turned up for my first shift/induction only to be told i am " not authorised".
haven't got a clue what's going on, as i've passed all security checks and have done for the past 3 years when i've worked as a casual at the same office.
any clue as to what's going on..???
cheers in advance.
