Another question i meant to ask - I've seen on threads on here that people have said they passed their pre employment security checks and have their welcome meeting a week later. I am currently employed and am required to give 3 weeks notice period (i did state this in the interview), but have been holding off handing in my notice untill i pass security checks and get a secure offer rather than conditional (didn't want to hand in my notice after conditional offer, don't pass the checks and then i'm out of a job!).
Will this notice period be respected, or will they want me to start from a week after they get in contact with me?
Basically i am asking - when i get the message the security checks have come back clear, am i able to negotiate a start date, or is it a take it or leave it date?

I told them at the interview that had to hand in 4 weeks notice, and after all the checks etc and my formal offer my induction day was set at 4 weeks and 1 day after my offer date so they keep it tight.
