I'm a bit confused about the parcel drop off service that is now available at delivery office enquiry counters.
On Sunday I took some amazon returns and ebay postage paid parcels and dropped them off with no problem. The lady was apologetic and said she wouldn't be able to issue any receipts but would happily take them off me.
I went back today with one ebay parcel and one amazon return and got told in no uncertain terms that they wouldn't be accepted and I'd have to go to a post office. When i pointed out the sign on the wall advertising the service I was told the ebay one could go in the franked mail chute but the amazon one definitely couldn't (although the amazon website clearly lists the delivery centre as a return point).
I really didn't care about a receipt for either but am a bit confused what difference it would make taking the amazon one to a post office just for it to come back to the delivery centre. Is there any reason why a tracked 48 package can't just go in with general post if a customer doesn't care about tracking?
Also - should proof of postage receipts be issued at the enquiry office (and is that the reason why some staff don't seem to want people dropping them off there? - the man today seemed particularly unhappy when he saw me arrive with two parcels!!)

Confusion about parcel dropp off service at delivery office
I have no personal experience of this service from either end but according to RM's website it seems that you should have been allowed to drop off these items and also get a proof of postage. It's in the FAQ on this page:

(Although it appears you would need to print out your own proof of posting form and get it stamped at the counter)
