New PDA's
Not used them yet but really can't understand why in this day and age they haven't bought one that will print a 379 or a label with all details to stick on it and save endless writing out of tracking numbers/addresses etc
How much time a day would that save?

Picks up the bar code better.
BUT too sensitive, have to cancel "logging an incident" before scanning a parcel every time.
Worst of all don't fit in pockets and have yet to find a way of holding the scanner and bundle of mail, take out a parcel and scan it........easily.
Requires a belt mounted holster to make the process easier.
Also never got the second battery we were told we were going to get to take out on delivery.

We got ours this week , can't see having to need the spare battery for a while as I used mine on delivery and collection and the battery was still showing a third charged ( approx 10 hours usage )
Certainly an improvement over the previous ones for now

Quickest way to logout is to Power Off the device. This will send any unsent jobs, reset the device & log off the current user.k979aaa wrote:Manage delivery/exit route/swipe left log out.NewPostieUK wrote:I like it but the screen is far too sensitive. Any brush with a finger or hanging-bloody-plant-basket leaf and it throws up something random.
No training at all but easy to use, except I can't work out how to log off. Do we actually have to log off at all?
Doing this at the end of your shift, leaves the PDA for the next user...

Don't know what has been going on with the server but Wednesday saw these PDAs failing to upload the manifest (the route with all the collection boxes necessitating performing an ad-hoc collection) and yesterday saw the system offline from about 1pm.
BTW I'd advise not to do a reset under such circumstances because the logon procedure fails which means you are unable to scan anything. Used my partners to scan the remaining tracked/rec but the 2Ds were not done obviously. Lesson for me is to only do a reset at the end once all the scans have been done.

All our collections failed on Wednesday as the PDA's wouldn't manifest and office gave everyone cards to use for signitures for tracked/rec/specials.
All 2Ds were obviously not done.
EE are pants for coverage to our area anyway.
Big tip is to take the strap and screen pen off the PDA by taking the battery cover off and get the recipients of the parcels to sign with their finger, its a damn sight easier and its better to fit PDA's in your pocket.

My PDA signed me out on its own about 1pm on Thursday and would not let me sign back in, just kept saying log in failed. Work on a single van duty so couldn't use someone else's PDA. Ended up delivering a couple of tracked and quite a few 2D barcode items unscanned and brought a couple of signed for items back without attempting delivery. Perhaps rather than spending money sending everyone leaflets saying how important scanning items is they could have put that money towards making their systems actually work.BeamishStout wrote:Don't know what has been going on with the server but Wednesday saw these PDAs failing to upload the manifest (the route with all the collection boxes necessitating performing an ad-hoc collection) and yesterday saw the system offline from about 1pm.

Get an Epod booklet + cards. I.e. what they used before PDAs for situations like this.Zicomurphy wrote:My PDA signed me out on its own about 1pm on Thursday and would not let me sign back in, just kept saying log in failed. They're just as bad as the old ones but in new ways.
1) If you lean anywhere on the screen, even a pinkie (and customers do it A LOT) nothing writes
2) In the rain, they dont' work
3) Regularly they crash and wipe out your username and password and your scanned items
4) They like to call the office every 5 minutes (like the predecessor but this seems to be easier for them to do it)
5) The 2d barcode scanner picks up 2 barcodes at once most times (this is a fault of RM postaging atm tho, seriously guys get shot of the other barcode if all u care about are 2ds)
6) Sometimes the route header gets lost in the clouds and wont download

If at the end of the delivery you have unsent items how do you clear them? Nobody seems to know. We just used to reboot the old ones by taking the battery out and putting it back in. Apparently been told with the new onesto dock the pda and trust the technology/ server to do the biz. Any ideas
