You're absolutely right terry, the really sad thing is that the Corbynistas don't realise the damage this is doing to the Labour party by the insistence that Corbyn and his followers seem to feel he is the man for the job when clearly he isn't. He carries with him the CLP, what he doesn't carry with him is the PLP who are far more versed in politics. A decade may well be a conservative, pardon the pun, estimate. Corbyn should be appearing in parliament with a red nose and a ginger wig to emphasise his total performance as leader of the labour party.

And that seems to be far more appealing a prospect to the general populace than Corbyn and his supporters' wish for some form of regressive hard socialist party. The days of the so-called blue collar support for socialist policies being guaranteed, is long over.
The ex-Tory tw*t Farage strikes more chords with the average Joe than the Old Fraud ever will, and yet you daft Corbynista really believe he's the one to lead you (back?) to some socialist Utopia? :left:
If that Utopian Dream is ten years in weak opposition, then he and you are well on-track.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news folks but unless my arithmetic is being sponsered by HSBC then I make 2010 until 2020 equal to 10 years of Conservative prime ministers!!!!!!!!! but don't worry Labour are working on it and Harriet Harman is inviting all supporters to turn up to Trafalgar Square with a shammie and a can o' Mr Sheen to shine a Welshman covered in dog shite.

Yes you're arithmetic IS wrong. The last election was in 2015 and so a decade will be 2025 to the next and because I think there will be a decade before labour are back in shape to actually fight an election with a leader and manifesto to rival the Tories it could be 2030, something I'm sad to say I'm not likely to see and Corbyn has made my last years living under a conservative government

The vast majority on this thread including myself do not fit the criteria to be a Labour Party supporter

Hey, I've previously posted on here about the importance of maintaining anonymity online - and I was shouted down as being a conspiracy theorist.
This kind of proves my point TBH.

Sign up and log on with an anonymised IP address and you can be obnoxious and offensive to your hearts content and get to vote for Corbyn (or should that be Smith ?) :cuppa

The election before that was in 2010. We got a ConDem coalition government, with a conservative PM and mainly Tory ministers and policies propped up by the LibDems. So by 2020 we will have had a decade of Conservative rule.
Corbyn is proposing a real alternative.
The Labour right's only strategy seems to be to be as much like the Tories as they can be, but hope that the electorate will eventually get fed up with the Conservative Government and vote them in instead, as the only alternative.
This has been going on for the last 37 years. It's time for a real alternative and real change.

When will that be? It certainly won't be any time soon with the present leadership and policies. It's pie in the sky to think that the ten points Corbyn has put forward are ever going to be realised, not least because there has been no mention HOW he intends to create the utopia he says is attainable.

I agree baldrick, it is time for a real alternative but Corbyn isn't it, he's part of the past, a dinosaur pretending that his out of date philosophy is cool and trendy. A real alternative has to be inclusive, what Corbyn is portraying and what his inner cabal and momentum "supporters" are certainly progressing is a socialism of division where the mantra is "If you're not with us, you're against us".

That's not only an electoral disaster, it's also suicide for the party.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

I don't agree that Corbyn or his supporters believe in division. It is not them that forced this leadership contest.
Corbyn might not be a cool trendy youngster, but he is more likely to appeal to the older Labour core voters who have switched to UKIP or the SNP or just don't turn out to vote now.
Perhaps a younger telegenic left MP might have been better. Perhaps in the future one of the 40 MPs who have backed Corbyn will stand. But at the moment the choice is between Corbyn and Smith.

Incidentally my niece reposted this on Facebook. It's the result of a poll as to what people thought of the Question Time debate between Corbyn and Smith:

Just as a matter of interest baldrick, who is the BDTN group - oh hang on it's a left wing alternative news group publishing "the truth" - really! That's clutching at straws to give some legitimacy and without a reference of who was polled and how many it's totally irrelevant.

A COHERENT ECONOMIC ARGUMENT ON WHY AUSTERITY AND AUSTERITY LIGHT IS UNSUSTAINABLE
https://youtu.be/Au2N07eHa-Q

The relevance is that Steve Keen is indirectly involved in the group set up by Macdonald to shape Labour policy.

Keen like much of the group calls himself a Capitalist whch makes the relentless assertion by the MSM and many on here that Labour under Corbyn are plotting revolutionary socialism laughable.

The thing is that he's an Australian who takes his theories from foreign economists most of whom died decades and even centuries ago :cuppa
