Ok DV lets hear your correct econmic policies for 21st century though for someone who backed Farage and now backs Owen Smith who wants to take you back in the EU then I hope your policies are a bit more consistent.
Bulls1t, promise the earth within reason, get elected and then suit yourself. As a matter of note I don't support Smith I'm just totally against Corbyn, so if an orang-utan stood against him I'd vote for it.

That's just ridiculous. Even Corbyn's weak, split and ultimately destructive leadership would beat an illiterate and low IQ animal...said absolutely no-one at all.
But isn't that the point of Owen Smith?
He's just there as an alternative to rid the Labour Party of the dead weight that is Corbyn.
Smith will hold the post until someone better comes along, and given the voter appeal and political gravitas of the little Welsh weasel, that won't be long either.

I sincerely hope that once Corbyn is replaced that there will rule changes to ensure that the CLP cannot be the arbiter of choosing a leader in the future. That left wing groups cannot hijack the party and even more, the CLP no longer get a vote in future leadership elections. Once he's been defeated one way or another I hope that the labour party expel Corbyn as a destructive element.

Why would I need economic policies, I don't have to persuade the electorate, that is what Corbyn is supposed to do. Nobody buys his hail fellow well met solution for all ills:

Full employment and an economy that works - well no suggestion how he's going to achieve that
500 Billion Investment Bank - where's the money coming from
A million homes in 5 years - where did he get that figure from and who's going to build them
Security at work and a halt to zero hour contracts - to do anything about that you would need legislation when in power
Secure NHS and Social Care - well you would first of all have to clear the billions already overspent
Free education for all -

I could go on but there's little point. We both know it's a leftist wish list without any substance whatsoever and nothing to say HOW all this is going to be paid for. Sure it reads well but the reality is that it is never going to happen.

The economic policy for the beginning of the 21st century is unfortunately going to be driven by the Tory party, that's because it still works for the majority of the country, it isn't what I want, I would rather see viable policies that balanced aspiration with social inclusion, policies that promote profit and investment while still rewarding good employment practices and work/life balance but nobody is promoting that agenda.

While you, Corbyn and the rest of his supporters worry about the Labour party turning into Tory-lite the rest of us will worry about the Tories turning into Tory-Max with a huge majority. That's the future reality we actually face but you guys knock yourself out, you're obviously having a wonderful time.

ft, Tory policies are not working for the majority of the people. Most people have seen their living standards decline. Wages are falling in real terms. Housing costs are spiralling, becoming unaffordable for many people. Over 900,000 people are on zero hour contracts, a million people rely on foodbanks to eat. People who rely on benefits are being sanctioned for the smallest reason, having their benefits cut or stopped.
The only people who are better off are those at the top.
The problem with the New Labour mantra of 'triangulation', ie taking the 'centre ground', is that as the Tories move more and more to the right, the Labour Party right moves more and more to the right too.

I'm not having a wonderful time. I'm seriously concerned about the direction this country is taking. I don't see an ever rightwards shift as inevitable though. I think that a real alternative can reconnect with the people who have been marginalised and have given up on the Labour Party as they don't see much difference between 'New Labour' and the Tories.
The fact that hundreds of thousands of people, including many young people, have become energised and enthusiastic that they can make a difference has given me some hope after 30 years of disillusionment and resignation. Perhaps it won't result in change, but we can try.

Well it's a path that will destroy the labour party by adhering to outdated policies formed by a leader ensconced in the 70s.

This "experiment" will have the opposite effect baldrick, it will consign the Labour party to at least a decade of infighting and opposition, meanwhile the Tories will run right over the poor and working class. I'm not even sure whether the party can survive as one.

What we may even see is the rise of a right-wing pro-Brexit UKIp type of party shifting the whole political spectrum right, with the Tory party minus a few right-wing defectors claiming the "social" left and leaving the Labour party with absolutely nowhere to go. This is what happened in Scotland when the SNP hijacked Labour's political position claiming the soft left despite being tartan tories at heart.

All of the above has already happened. In RM terms that means privatisation complete and a 2 tier workforce in place with one tier on a decent pension and the rest on a pension equivalent of a lucky bag. Labour were complicit in the process with Chris Bryant MP leading a charge against us for Mandy. Bryant is now a head honcho for 'Saving Labour'.But Mandy remember him? Drinking cocktails with Osborne on a Russian Billionaires yacht.Mandy? Tory plant ? Oh no no

The I72 labour MPs held in such high regard all abstained on the welfare bill.If you do some digging on these MPs you may be surprised to find how many are trousering lots of lolly from dubious business sources but nothing to see here..move on.

You talk of experiments then what about the recent Ed Balls experiment? A man who could barely string a sentence together nor put a coherent logical argument on the economy for 5 years and then managed the unenvious task of losing his seat at GE while being shadow chancellor.

One sunny day, staring into the mirror eating a bacon sandwich deep in the heart of Westminster Ed Milliband contemplated the objective truth that maybe New Labour hadnt been such a sucess after all and decided to announce some mildly logical policies but he was soon reeled in by Balls and dragged round the table with the usual lobbyists who once again got their say on Labour Polcy. So what did Balls and the Business experts come up with? An election winning £8 an hour minimum wage by 2020! ...but what happened shortly after? Balls bessie mate Osborne trumped him with £9! But of course no questions or concerns that Balls was working a flanker.

UKIP got 4 million votes at last election and the SNP never hijacked Labours soft left postion( whatever that means) it was a self inflicted open goal.Enter John Mctern and Jim Murphy and Labour are now toast in Scotland. If you resurrected the bones of Keir Hardie and the DNA of Rabbie Burns and elected them Labour leader the outcome would be the same.

Yep. That'll be Corbyn at the butty wagon wishing he'd played the cards differently and was still a member of parliament rather than pushing the trolley with a long handled broom. :chuckle

The really sad thing for democracy is what is happening to the Labour party, I hope a miracle happens as I don't fancy a decade of Tory rule so fingers crossed
