Hi, went for my interview on tuesday. I think it went well, the only thing going against me is a conviction for harassment when i was 17 or 18. Cant remember exactly, and a couple of motoring convictions but have no points. im now 29. I told the interviewer about it, and she wasnt really bothered too much about it.
I know this is a conviction which is deemed unacceptable by royal mail. But is there any sort of wiggle room on this? Do they look at each individual case or is it they see its unacceptable, no matter how long ago and the answers no? Has anyone got to work for rm with an unacceptable conviction?
Thanks in advance

There have been plenty that got through the process with a conviction, those that didn't divulge it are generally escorted from the premises and dismissed summarily. Those that do divulge fully and get through the process sucessfully nothing more is heard, at least that's my experience.
Of course "Harassment" is a bit of a wide field. If its bad such as stalking, sexual or violence related then there won't be much wiggle room. If it's a bit of youthful verbal indescretion then it will probably be ignored. As ever it's the details of the offence, and the punishment to some extent, rather than a specific criminal act.
The motoring convictions - they would depend on if they were related to honesty. So if it was theft, false documents etc, - then I would suspect there is no wiggle room. A few points for speeding, Driving drunk etc - as long as they are spent they would probably be ignored.

Thanks for the reply. Gives me some hope then.
The harassment wasnt sexual or violent, was pretty stupid to be honest. Young and dumb.. The drink driving though was only 2 years ago so it wont be spent yet. I guess that will be a problem then?

Have you served your ban and are the points more than 6 - otherwise as long as you told them it won't be a problem, its when you try to keep it secret that it would be.
