I delivered a special after 1pm, what now?

so I was on a new walk today, I had a special but didn't deliver it until 10 past 1. the customers themselves said its not a problem. Will this flag up and what kind of punishment can i expect?

I was rushing around to the get there before 1, and not knowing the walk, i didnt really know if id make it in time. im a bit stressed because i feel a bit hard done by, but at the same time i knew it had to be done by 1.

has anyone else delivered one after 1pm? what happened?

is your manager approachable? If they are fess up and apologise saying you thought you would make it but just missed it not knowing the duty.

If they are decent enough they will be fine about it as when they get asked by their boss they can explain what's happened, if you don't tell them it could go pear shaped. I posted a tracked once without scanning it and the this is what the boss said when I told him.

If its your first offence, I wouldn't expect anything more than a mild rebuke. If you have done more than a few, then it could be more, but ultimately although it is daunting sometimes telling the truth before you are summoned it is generally better than trying to bluff it and be caught later.

If you are still nervous have a word with a colleague or rep and ask them to accompany you when you see the manager.

i doubt anything major will come of it unless its another in a line of errors youve made. Theyll probably mention something about it, maybe ask why and say make sure not to do it again. Whats done is done try not to worry too much - theres not much worrying about it is going to do now, and most likely just a slap on the wrist. Also it really helps if you write down all your specials before going out on delivery and keeping them seperate in a tray, so if you start to realise you wont get to an address by 1pm you can drive over there and get it done, this way you dont have to race around to make the special in time.
Ive delivered a special at 2pm before (by mistake and before i used my "tray" system above) nothing even was said to me about it, so i guess it can depend on your office.

Had a special today for a bloke whom always finishes work after 1PM. I still had to go off route to P739 it before 1PM when I knew he wouldn't be there. When I passed his house late at about 1.30 surprise suprise he was at home. :arrrghhh
I was rather annoyed! :mad

I always thought if you done this it still counts as a failed Delivery?

It's so wrong, but I've heard gaffers telling Postie's to do this as a "solution" to the problem
, "if you cannot get there in time then inform your line manager".

They're pressed, we're pressed, that's corporatization for you.

not sure thats a good idea at all. If you get a customer who complains they didnt get it by 1pm and only at the time it was actually delivered after 1pm then RM could investigate and find the location you scanned it as not delivered (ie nowhere near the actual delivery point) If you want to risk that its up to you, personally I think its a really bad idea.

I've been told by a manager to do this before.

Still shows as a failure. There used to be a way on the old scanners, to show it as not delivered ( scanned before 1pm ) but if the customer then came to you with the card after 1pm , you could reconfigure the scanner to DO INDOOR and get them to sign for it as though it had come from the RLE locker.

Everything is booked in now and I don't now how to do indoor work on the new scanners, but it used to be fairly easy on the old ones, Just change mode to do indoor and get them to sign for it off that.
