I sincerely hope he isn't driving after that rant. I think that is the first time I've seen road rage from a stationary vehicle. What he, like all the Corbynistas, don't understand is that Corbyn does NOT have public support which is totally different to the CLP support. That may elect him as leader but it cannot instil in him a leadership he does not possess.

TBH I didn't know he was a cabbie, I thought he'd escaped from somewhere and had become delusional. :cuppa

Because he supports Corbyn. :arrrghhh :arrrghhh

Its like reading the Sun or the Daily Mail, not because of the politics, but because they are so disparaging of people who support a different view. Its sad to see it among people on here, in fact I can start to understand why the CWU closed their site. When people really think its acceptable to defend their position with put downs and innuendo, rather than well-thought arguments it saddens and angers me. I am afraid when people use silly name-calling as a debating tool, then I am afraid their comments become. to me at least, meaningless and unworthy of response.

If people are trying to change minds because they generally believe Corbyn supporters have it wrong, then the current approach isn't working. Perhaps if you argue your points with some degree of respect you may have a chance. To be fair some on here are, but they are getting drowned out by the contempt of others.

What you mean like the cab driver and others on you tube assuming any alternative view to the leftist hail fellow traveller view is anti socialist. There's little point in voting for a leader who cannot lead and will never win an election. Lets hope the next general election isn't too far away and we can have an end to this and the reconstruction of the labour movement can begin. :cuppa

The reconstruction has already begun.
It's been a long time coming- I remember Kinnock selling the miners short in the hope of electoral glory (which didn't arrive for another 13 years)- but better late than never.

Oh you mean when Tony Blair won the election, the person you have previously criticised as being a closet Tory. Kinnock realising he could win an election resigned as leader. You think this is a reconstruction jet - nope it's a destruction of the labour movement - every indication is that there will be a breakaway movement if Corbyn is re-elected and you think that is a reconstruction :hmmmm

If it means going back to the Blair years and new labour you can keep it, when thatcher was asked what her greatest achievement was she answered "Tony Blair and New Labour. We forced our opponents to change their minds." there was something wrong with the labour party of that era and going back to that is a step backwards even if they won elections.

If Corbyn being leader can drag the labour party back to the left ( even if it is slightly left ) then it can only be a good thing whether he wins a general election or not, winning a general election and keeping the new labour ethos is a waste of time and provides only a slightly better alternative to the conservatives.

I will be voting Corbyn when my vote comes through.

I do not understand the logic of that, what's the point of an opposition if it's unelectable. All that happens is that every Tory proposition in parliament will be passed because there isn't sufficient opposition to defeat them. Consequently rather than doing your best to help the downtrodden masses your spouting rhetoric whilst the social well being of the labour supporters just gets worse.

The analogy is you go in the bookies, it's a two horse race, one a thoroughbred with a great jockey and the other is a donkey with a monkey on its back and you put your money on the donkey

I know what has Corbyn stopped the Tories doing in just a year.... Nothing, well except:

Labour under Corbyn has helped fight off cuts to tax credits and disabled people's PIP payments. Helped stopped the plan to make academy's of every school, and defeated the cuts to the number of police.

.... and he is ineffective as the Oppositions leader ???

It's a ridiculous position to take that this leadership election is a choice between Corbyn and a return to Blairite New Labour, who has positioned it as such and why?

Do any of you really believe that any of those 172 PLP MPs want to be associated with the toxic Blair brand?

Who is driving that association and why?

There are some dark arts afoot.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

He is ineffective and he'll be even more ineffective after the conference and they return to parliament without the support of the PLP.

I don't think its ridiculous FT. Seems pretty much spot on to me.
It has been funny though (funny hoo hoo - not ha ha) watching Owen Smiths "leadership campaign", where he has desperatley sought to show off his socialist credentials by (all of a sudden) echoing many of Jeremy Corbyns policy statements and objectives. His people have obviously twigged that there is considerable mileage in this "socialism" thing :Very Happy
Lets see how the Pfizer mans policies pan out if he's succesful in his challenge hey.
Owen Smith is the cannon fodder that is meant to weaken the enemy, all the while showing us what firepower the left have got. The more damage he inflicts the better, the lesser the moral and electoral mandate for JC. But the big guns are biding their time way back from the front line.

fishtank wrote:Do any of you really believe that any of those 172 PLP MPs want to be associated with the toxic Blair brand?
They are the "toxic brand Blair" to some extent. Many backed him over Iraq - as well as most other things. Even after Chilcott many were reluctant to undermine Blair, or even admit their own mistakes.
For those 172, Blair gave them power, and for that they will be eternally grateful. Blair worked for those 172.
He just didn't work so well for the rest of us.
No, they are part of the problem, they are the toxic brand , as you call it. It'd be nice to be able to pin all the blame on one man, but that is never the reality of the situation.

fishtank wrote:There are some dark arts afoot.
LOL - I don't know FT. Seems like all the dark propogandist forces work for the other side TBH.
Maybe you are thinking that that North Korean guy is behind it.

Oh no - I've got it - maybe Putin did it.

I don't know why the Corbynistas are so cock-a-hoop, if he wins the leadership election he will most certainly not win a general election and will consequently be consigned to the loser category and resign. Come on Corbys tell me you think he will win the next election, you can't because you know he can't.
