Got my welcome day tomorrow and start Thursday at delivery office...fitness has took a dive and I expect and have been told to have pain every where for the first six weeks... Any advice to recovery, or things you did/used to make it better..??

The only thing I can say is good luck and enjoy your first day.

I read a few posts regarding shoes and uniforms and so on. If you haven't come across try to find them, as they may be useful.

Pain for 6 weeks sounds a bit too long.

Think 'pain' is like muscles being used that your not use to...holding weight that you usually wouldn't....sore feet... Think I'm expecting the worse....

Just had my welcome day/ induction today and tbh it was quite good as I managed to meet new starters like myself that I will be working with along with getting answers to all my questions. Most of the day was really class room based stuff as expected and we all joined the union. But tomorrow is when the hardwork begins and I tried ordering my uniform today as I was told if you're given a permanent contract then you can order you're uniform straight away. However as I didnt know what my managers name is they told me to call back tomorrow.

Most of the advice i have been given is "If you can survive the first couple of weeks then it should get more easier" as you progress you will learn new things and get a better understanding on how things work in this company. So all the best of luck to those of you starting this week. :thumbup

Your legs will ache for the first few weeks and a soak in the bath becomes a nightly ritual followed by calf stretches... and stock up on plasters and socks :-) plasters for your fingers even if your feet survive

Well I survived my first walk, was only 3 loops but very hilly. Glad it wasn't a tough gig though. Calf and feet slightly ache but not too much.... Round 2 tomorrow lol :nana
