How much power does a manager have ?
i have no problem lapsing the problem is we used to lapse 2 duties this led to overtime now that has been scrapped in favour of working 1 collection for free during the summer this ensures on paper the Dom saves 20 hours a week, that is £2800 lets assume he gets 10% of that as a bonus surely that is theft?

I think, their bonus scheme is dependent upon meeting certain arrests , of which lapsing will be rolled up into it somewhere, as they seem to do a lot of the lapsing , because we don't have he time, makes you wonder why they try and lapse in the first place.,oh I know it started out as , "summer savings" ,as usual it became mission creep and we end up doing it all year round ,like d2d.'s, though why you want a pizza at Christmas I have no idea.heraldmoth wrote:i have no problem lapsing the problem is we used to lapse 2 duties this led to overtime now that has been scrapped in favour of working 1 collection for free during the summer this ensures on paper the Dom saves 20 hours a week, that is £2800 lets assume he gets 10% of that as a bonus surely that is theft?

Sounds like false imprisonment to me.
"False imprisonment is the “complete deprivation of liberty for any time, however short, without lawful cause”. (See Clerk and Lindsell on Torts, 19th edition, 2006, 15-23.)"

I don't know how anyone has agreed to that.heraldmoth wrote:i have no problem lapsing the problem is we used to lapse 2 duties this led to overtime now that has been scrapped in favour of working 1 collection for free during the summer this ensures on paper the Dom saves 20 hours a week, that is £2800 lets assume he gets 10% of that as a bonus surely that is theft?
There's no chance I would agree to that. I work to my time almost everyday so there's certainly no way I'd be doing 4 hours for free.

Disputing whether or not you'll have time to take lapsing isn't a criminal offense so the manager had absolutely no right to even attempt to actually attempt to prevent you from leaving. Regardless of what your DOM says or thinks, if you wanted to leave & the manager in no uncertain terms refused to move from your path, he held you in the room against your will. I'd encourage you to make sure it isn't swept under the carpet & dismissed by the DOM or the manager as the managers conduct was completely out of line, in the same way if you'd physically shoved him & removed him from your path, you can be damn sure your conduct would be pulled up to the fullest extent by him so you should make sure you pursue it with the Union/DOM because you know he would do the same if the shoe was on the other foot.
