They come to me with a failure on my walk, doesn't mean I did it, it is a van share, there are two of us, could have been me, could have been him. We know who does each address but if it is over sized on an address I do then it is him, we also have relief drivers taking other items out so could have been him also. The answer you have given there Dingo is RM lino logic, it's on your walk so you did it.
They should be able to tell by looking at the GPS traces for the other items scanned and looking at who was logged in to the PDA

No they wouldn't. It is entirely possible that, for example number 1 random road had a tracked that was scanned by postie a) (non-driver), number 3 had a tracked that was scanned by postie a). Now imagine the tracked where scan was missed was identified as being for number 5 of that street - you would assume that it was delivered by postie a) correct?

What if it was an oversized delivered by the van driver - or perhaps the actual item in question wasn't actually an oversized, but since that address had multiple packets, the driver delivered all the packets for said address as a more efficient way of delivering the items?

The point is, if a scan is missed, then it is next to impossible to identify who was responsible unless the person responsible admits it or the other person in the van share flat out denies it.

Unless tracked items are signed for along with your specials from your reg locker, their is no proof you ever had the item to deliver in the first place. Missing tracked items often appear the following day in our office after being probably miss sorted.
We also get a fair few tracked items with the wrong house number put on by the sender. The regular postie might spot them but a relief postie probably would not. Thing is many tracked like this are scanned with no need for a signature and then put through the door as addressed. Next time your workplace coach quizzes you, ask for the proof you actually had the item.

Once it arrivals in a delivery office following the original outward Mail scan , there is prompt that it has arrived in the delivery office and is due delivery that day.

It is correct that it could remain somewhere else in the delivery and not go out but this will be identified by the scanned process and will confirm it has failed due to this.

The second issue is that in a starburst situation or even CDV situation it will identify the delivery OPG who should initially be responsible but the OPG may be part of a start burst group and there might be a different delivery officer. In which case I think the whole starburst group will be spoken too and the CDV pairing.

Royal Mail for example will show the CWU at Area or Divisional level the amount of Door Step scans an office has failed and than the worst 6 walks over the course of week or a month.

I have seen some walks being reposnible for 60 failures over a month and that on investigation the individual has been counsellor a few times and is still struggling ! In other cases there might not be enough PDAs so an EPod card is all the individual has got , or where there may be other issues .

The issue is that Royal Mail have won multi million pound contracts on door step scan and if we want too retain them we have got too 1 ensure that where individuals have the right equipment they are done 2. That Door step scan will add more time to deliveries but not more walking so we need to track this and ensure we understand the increase in attendance calls 3. We alert members that Royal Mail will after the appropriate counselling and training move to conduct if the same individuals week in week out do not door step scan. Of course we need too ensure that we identify any issues which stop anyone scanning.

Remember some of the increase in door step scan product which is growing so fast is a switch from priority services and parcel providers offering this .

Additionally the DSM and Dom gets a daily and weekly report on which walks have failed their Door Step scanned. New technology advances now allow companies much more scrutiny.

Sometimes it really is just down to communications with the different offices. I have been in a few offices over the last couple of weeks and when you speak to the Delivery staff some weed not aware that the customer received a text message or email once the item was scanned but equally some weed not aware that once it arrives in the delivery office on the day some customers get a text telling them it will delivered today.

Equally some firms deliveries scan the item inside the office as there are too many too scan at shops or business , the problem is for example if your scanning a box for a shoe shop the customer who has requested to pick up their order from the shoe shop will get a text saying it is in the shoe shop. The problem is it has not left the office and customer may have left their home or work to go too the shoe shop only to find their not there. Hence the customer complaint and compensation paid and than the threat of the work going elsewhere.

When you review the numbers there are only 3 or 4 walks which have issues and some may even be the absorption walks. Overall around 97% of door step scan are being delivered successfully ! It is a new product which will grow hence why it is important too update OPGs rather than blame individuals.

The role of an OPG has changed massively over 5 years in terms of attendance calls and if Royal Mail even get the band width issue sorted with the new PDAs than the number of scanned items will increase. Remember in the future if you want to avoid longer walks than scanning and attendance calls are vital ! You might have a 5 hour delivery but an hour is made up of knocking on the door /attendance calls and not simply walking . Plus it is the service which the big providers such as Amazon are demanding and it is an area where we can capture work to safeguard job , terms and conditions !

For us in MCs in the next few years we'll have to get used to scanning absolutely every parcel. It'll be a good thing though as for each step of the journey from when an item is posted to when it's delivered the next office in the chain will be able to get an accurate figure of how many items they can expect and for DOs it'll probably be able to see at walk level how many each walk has got

I missed a Tracked last week, didn't scan it apparently I can't remember to be honest and the coach comes round with his clipboard with attached print out saying ooh you had a good run etc pissed me right off.

What is the crack with this? If I missed one fair enough, that's human error but the way he was going to go on until I cut him short was a joke, sign this blah blah bollocks.

Rant over.
The craick is pal that you were either sloppy... or tired... or are a second rate postal operative who is unconcerned by the fact that you missed a "tracker". Why don't you cut your workplace coach a bit of slack. He or she are just doing their job. Don't be such a moron ?

Or for whatever reason the item never reached his frame for delivery. It is just possible he never had it to deliver.
