Closure date set for Maltby mail office

ROYAL Mail has confirmed the closure date for Maltby’s delivery office.

Delivery operations will move to the Rotherham office on Main Street from September 12 as part of the company’s efficiency drive.

But customers who are not home when the post arrives will be able to pick up parcels from Wickersley Post Office.

A spokesman said: “As a commercial business, Royal Mail is responding to the huge growth in electronic communications and decline in letter volumes.

“There will be no impact on deliveries to our customers, who will continue to be served by the same postmen and women

“Before the move goes ahead, detailed planning will take place to help ensure a smooth transition for our operations, our people and the service we provide to our customers.”

Royal Mail said there would be no job losses as a result of the move.
