My brother in-law,got told he got a job with RM,then got an e.mail to say he didn't pass security check.but we can't think of anything that he would have on a security check that would fail him.he is really upset as he was really looking forward to it.is there any number or anyone he can contact to find out if he can dispute this,I'd be grateful for any advice.thank you

I think you can request the info held about you to see if there was anything of concern or incorrect there. There's a link to it on this Gov website:

https://www.gov.uk/disclosure-barring-s ... k/overview

It costs £25 or so to get the info.

What is a security vetting check?
The check is in two parts

Stage 1 is a check against a register of debarred individuals
who have previously worked for Royal Mail and a check against our Recruitment Risk
Register to check for individuals who have committed a crime against Royal Mail. Stage 2
is a basic disclosure check for unspent criminal conviction/s and is completed by a supplier
of Royal Mail.
