Ours are about 45 minutes a loop but by the time you've driven there and back if your only doing one loop there's your hour goneHour a loop? Wow. Are there regularly 8 loops (or so) to each duty like we have?

The duty gets split into two or three at our place minus an hours sorting. So do half a duty and get 3.30,third of a duty 2.20.
If a walk fails one day we claim double rate the next day. Our office is such a shambles that they pay or it fails.

Ah. I see why RM keeps on banging on about utilising all paid hours. It's a statement mostly irrelevant to us in our office, but I imagine you guys would fight desperately against a clocking on and off system as some of you are raking in many hours of unworked time in your pockets. It's surprising to me that we in this remote area are toeing the company line (in the main), yet we are actually out in the boonies in the ass end of nowhere. V peculiar.
You say they pay you for more time than it takes, or it fails. So it fails here. That happens and some poor sod gets it the next day (without claiming double pay obviously!! Isn't there a massive argument at your place about who gets to work for literally double the pay rate of all their colleagues that day, yet only work an hour or two more?).

Why don't they the managers do it they do f**k all after we leave the office better still get the office manager and the delivery sector managers to do it and then there is the area manager. To many chiefs and not enough Indians while the service is left to the wolves from above!wannabeek wrote:Ah. I see why RM keeps on banging on about utilising all paid hours. Ah. Another RM rule we follow out here. Managers don't do postie work. One may sometimes half-heartedly push a york around (into the wrong place more likely than not), but they never do delivery. Good thing too, in my opinion.

No argument at all.We had our revision in the first phase and it is completely unworkable. Most vans claim a couple of hours to get finished on three or four days a week.People would rather let someone else have the double duty ,it is that s**t here.wannabeek wrote:Ah. We just generally get paid for what we do, unless the boss is desperate for it to be done, in which case he may say "i'll give you two hours for this 45 minute bundle".

It depends how desperate they are, if they didn't allow people to book a bit extra for extending they wouldn't extend, hardly worth booking 30 mins is it? Not worth booking an hour but it is double time. I'd rather not do any but if they penny pinch I for one wouldn't do it, By the time you pay your tax and NI out of it you only get about £6 anyway for an hours work.wannabeek wrote:Ah. We had a manager on Tuesday asking what walk we were on and noting down everyone's finishing times, 90% were back on time with double lapsing! But now they have decided we are triple lapsing every Tuesday and Saturday! W@nkers

so true, no one to blame but themselves OR they dont have grounds to complain as they are completing on time so it cant be that bad. Follow H&S that RM constantly bang on about, stop cutting corners and you wont be doing any lapsng, or keep running around and getting extra and extra.... up to youCreditshampoo wrote:Probably giving you guys triple lapsing because you complete with double. We are lapsing three walks at the moment, daily. After a discussion with DOM on Wednesday about not having time to do lapsing we've decided to tell DOM daily we will take lapsing out with us, but if we have worked to our time, we will bring it back to the office. Although, today we somehow managed to fit lapsing in at the end of the duty and still have 15 minutes to spare.
Our current lapsing it 2 miles away from the office and 2.5 miles away from the end of the duty, according to Google Maps.
