Hi everyone. New on here today. Got my interview in the morning for OPG with driving. Tad nervous which is natural, but excited at the prospects of working for one of Britain's remaining institutions. Plenty of advice has helped prepare so thanks to the generous folks on the forum.
If you could give me 1 piece of valuble advice for tomorrow what would it be????

Big day looming!!!!
Sorry cant pick one of these out as the most important - 4 things good for any interview:
Get there in good time,
Don't dress like a hippie,
Remember the interviewer's name - but only use it when you leave to say goodbye,
Ask if there's likely to be much overtime available and state that you are flexible (use that word - they love it) with hours - assuming that's true.

Cool hope all went well for you. Be prepared for a stupid long wait now, if my experience is anything to go by. I'd already got another job by the time they finally got back in touch. Thankfully that other job was rubbish and only short term because I really like this one!

Contracts are a bit strange only being 25hr. I mean who can survive on just that especially with a mortgage etc

5 years or so. I was fortunate to be made up to full time within a couple of years but averaged a 50 hr week in the first year with the overtime. I'm not saying there's always loads of overtime available, but do let them know if you want it.

This is the tricky situation if I get offered the position. I couldnt survive on just a 25hr contract and with there being no overtime guaranteed l couldnt take the job. Also when it comes to re doing our mortgage how are they going to be with me now being (part time). Its unfortunate because l would love to be a postiewannabeek wrote:5 years or so. Yes. Part time and it's likely you would be on a temporary contract. Most mortgage lenders would refuse any loan on that basis, from my experience.

No worries, good luck for the future - use my interview tips in every one you do because I never failed an interview, did dozens.
Only had so many jobs because I've always been a bolshy so and so who won't be pushed around by some graduate doofus. No idea how I've lasted so long in RM!
