dvbuk55 wrote:I certainly hope it isn't a remain vote, as for not knowing what brexit means, the remainers are in for a shock when the EU apply new rules being held over until after the vote, when VAT is raised on exempt and lower rate items, when Turkey is fast tracked into the EU and even more migrants stream in, when Greece, Portugal, Spain et al reach financial crisis point again and we pay to bail them out despite Cameron saying "over my dead body" last time.
The remainers shouldn't be concerned about what happens on exit but what will happen if the remainers win and the EU think it's carte blanche to do whatever they like and they will. It'll be no good crying then, the milk will be well and truly spilt.

Maybe the union might have to do some work then and im not talking about the reps im talking about the higher ups telling our reps to except this and that which is going on as we speak, makes you wonder whose side they are really on because the last few years we are getting screwed left right and centre FACT!!!!!fishtank wrote:Some of the comments on here are laughable, the EU actively supports a trade union and that's a bad thing?, the union decides through conference debate to support an institution that supports trade unions and the trade union movement and that's a bad thing?
Some of you guys have no idea what you are wishing for and if you get what you want you'll be the first to start whining about it. You're being taken for mugs by Farage and Bojo,

Think for yourselves.....dont listen to fishtanks propagandafishtank wrote:Think for yourselves.
Don't read bollocks on the internet, there are no facts out there just agenda led bias.
Think about the reality of life outside the EU, don't believe that it necessarily means an end to immigration or the free movement of labour,. For further reference see Norway and Switzerland.
Think about what the reality was before we entered the EU, the 1970s.
Don't believe for a minute that "we" will be taking back control of anything, we've never had any control, what you will really be doing is giving control to people like Farage and Johnson.
Don't think there is any real democracy in this country, no-one standing against the status quo stands a chance of having any real power to protect the working class.
Try to make a decision with your head free from petty bigotry and fear.
Make sure you vote.

Someone talking senseenskied wrote:Surely if we remain we will have less influence within the EU, after all our glorious leader went over there to threaten them with " We will leave if.... " Came back with nothing. Now he is shouting from the roof tops that he can not manage our ecconomy without them, it will be a disaster for the Uk. So how can he now play his cards within the EU from a position of strength. Germany and France will will be rubbing their hands, and as more countries join our influence will grow weaker. Our borders will remain an open door to an ever expanding centralised, federalised EU. Migration, ( which I am in favour of btw ) carries a huge economic and social burden if it is not planned or controled.
By leaving it gives us the power to manage to our needs and capacity. I also believe it would help us re-establish a manufacturing industy within the Uk, rather than having lucrative parts of our industries transported to smaller low economy contries with the bribe of a fat EU grant.

Why is it those who support remain think that exit supporters are harking back to the 70s - are they ones stuck in a time warp, have they really not moved on from "Life on Mars" - the world, outside the EU has moved on, the digital age has been with us for more than 20 years, communication, travel, movement of trade etc has made it unnecessary for Big Brother Europe - even some of the big wigs in Europe say they need the UK, probably because we fund their lavish spending on this that and the other.
I feel the remain camp are weak holding on to Europe probably in the same way they hung on to their mothers apron strings. It takes courage to make a leap of faith and try to control your own destiny and those in favour of exit have it, those who vote remain have not.

I don't think it is fair to label remainers as "weak" Just as it is not fair to Label Laever as backward looking ludites stuck in a bygone age. Fear of change, of the unknown tends to make people opt to do nothing and maintain the status quo. Battered women tend to stay in a dysfunctional relationship. It takes courage to strike out on your own and face an uncertain future. I just hope that we do have the courage to take that step, end a poor relationship and believe in ourselves.dvbuk55 wrote:Why is it those who support remain think that exit supporters are harking back to the 70s - are they ones stuck in a time warp, have they really not moved on from "Life on Mars" - the world, outside the EU has moved on, the digital age has been with us for more than 20 years, communication, travel, movement of trade etc has made it unnecessary for Big Brother Europe - even some of the big wigs in Europe say they need the UK, probably because we fund their lavish spending on this that and the other.

In that case, to avoid being accused of being unable to discuss a point with a modicum of intellect, perhaps you could refute the numbers one by one and provide the correct sums. I suspect you will be unable to do so and I suggest your ability to argue a case is represented by that quite brilliant and well thought out riposte, "total bollocks."geordieboy123 wrote:Yes total bollocksPistolPete wrote:So the figures quoted are wrong then?geordieboy123 wrote:Oh dear,oh dear this site is edited by a Paul Staines a neo conservative who was once editor of British Briefing a monthly intelligence analysis briefing on the extreme left, left MP's,trade unionists, left leaning lawyers and writers smearing these groups at every opportunity and to this day it seems. Despite not providing any facts, I'm sure you will need to have the last word as you obviously think that the only opinion of any value is your own, in which case I'm sure you will forgive me not continuing a rather futile discussion. It's hard to have a reasoned debate with the intellectually bereft whose arguments are restricted to saying "total bollocks."

But Guido doesn't provide any link or corroborating evidence apart from a pretty table and a small note to say that the money was given over 9 years (which 9 years). I even went looking for it.
So as it stands one position is its true, and one position is its a load of crap, in neither case can it be proven, although I live in hope?

A t'internet link is not a fact, that particular site has been called out many times for posting bollocks and calling them facts.
Facts on the internet are rarer than hens teeth.
