I agree with most of what you say, I am also an out voter, I don't think the immigration will cease, I believe we will have to accept it still as a condition of trading with the EU.jack~jack wrote:Last time I went to doctors, I waited 4 hours because they were so overstretched. My children can't go to the school at the end of the road because it's full, so travel 3 miles each day. But don't worry another 330,000 are coming next year and the year after, and forever more.if we stop in E.U. For me the decision is easy

Just really need to be out of a limited closed shop that systematically crushes the cheaper and probably better product produced outside the EU, keeping EU prices high with no competition from outside. It's just a massive self serving bloc making each member state dependant on the others, that's NOT freedom that's the death of independence and national identity, we're sleepwalking into the birth of a European bloc being totally ruled from outside, paying our taxes directly to central Europe for a European army and most likely a European police force. I don't want any part of that, and to be honest I cannot understand anyone who would.

I'm very much an IN voter and I think it is crazy to even think of not being a member, however I do agree that the union - and any employer - should NOT be giving their opinion on how you should vote.
What the CWU want is not necessarily what is best for the country, and that is what we are voting for.

I think everyone, be they in or out voters agree the EU needs to change, it is unwilling to change, it has no reason to change. I live in hope that should we vote to leave, other countries might start to consider it, it will then be forced to change or it will die. That can only be a good thing.

Before you cast a vote to remain in the European Union please take a minute to ask yourself why you are prepared to deny to your grandchildren and their children the same democratic rights you enjoy. Why would you want to deny them the opportunity to vote out incompetent or dishonest politicians? Because at some point Westminster will be little more than a parish council and most decisions affecting this country will be made by unelected bureaucrats in Brussels.
Yes, the economy may take a short term hit (or it may not) but isn't self-determination for future generations far more important?
Please, think long-term not short-term.

“European laws are made by unelected bureaucrats”
Not true. The European Commission doesn’t make laws. It only makes proposals, which are then debated, amended and passed (or rejected) by elected national governments and directly-elected MEPs
and if you think being anti-democratic is having unelected people having an effect on laws for your country rather than your own parliament, then pity the poor Scots, Welsh, and Northern Irish, they have 760 of them as opposed to 28.
Or perhaps you do mean bureaucrats, in that case there are as of this year 32,966 people directly employed by the EU Commission to help in its Administration, the UK government has 406,140 civil servants working directly for Whitehall Departments.

This is due to our Government not providing the necessary funding for the NHS and education. Not the EU. I don't think any of the GPs at my surgery is British. My GP is from Spain.jack~jack wrote:Last time I went to doctors, I waited 4 hours because they were so overstretched. This is what Leaving will do to us.
Lots of people believe ‘Leave’ is all about migration – well it might be for many who are thinking about voting ‘Leave’ but it’s not for the people who are running the ‘Leave’ campaign. They want a more extreme free market and part and parcel of the ‘Leave’ agenda is getting rid of `red tape’ - or what you and me know as workers’ rights. It is a fact that most of these have come from the E.U. This is what leading Brexiters think :
• Priti Patel (Employment Minister) has called them a burden and would like to halve them.
• Boris Johnson said it was “very disappointing” that Britain had not made “changes to employment law”, complaining that we “need to weigh in on all that stuff, all that Social Chapter stuff”.
• Chris Grayling, when asked what European “red tape” he disliked, he referred to Health and Safety laws.
The £350m Lie
A central plank of the ‘Leave’ campaign is the claim that Brexit would free up £350m a week for the NHS. Every independent body has said it is not true:
The BBC Reality Check verdict: Leaving the EU would not give the UK an extra £350m a week to spend on the NHS.
Now Tory MP Sarah Wollaston, formerly a leading ‘Brexiter’, has quit the campaign to leave the EU and will vote ‘Remain’ She told the BBC:
‘Vote Leave's claim that Brexit would free up £350m a week for the NHS "simply isn't true".
She went on to tell the BBC what Unite has been saying for a long time, that ‘Leave’ would generate a huge shock to the economy, which would impact on the NHS (as well as other welfare and social benefits).
"The consensus now is there would be a huge economic shock if we voted to leave," she said. "Undoubtedly, the thing that's most going to influence the financial health of the NHS is the background economy. So I think there would be a Brexit penalty."
These are just some of the reasons that on the 23rd June Unite is urging members to - Vote Jobs, Vote Rights, Vote Remain!

With things as they are in the workplace I would have thought that the union would have MUCH better things to spend our subs money on than propaganda like the crap we received through our doors yesterday. It would be interesting to find out how much the composing, printing and posting of this piece of crap has cost, and as a token of goodwill for the CWU to divide the total cost by the number of members and reduce our next years subs by that amount. This is not work related no should not have been done.

Great piece Paul but it still doesnt persuade the majority, ive worked under british working laws and eu working laws ,and yes your right some eu laws have been good for workers but if i had to choose i would rather work in the time before the eu.Our standard of livivng is being driven down, and if im honest i probably have less rights now then i ever have, people are being sacked for the most stupid of reasons, zero hour contracts, shop workers 12 hour contracts and working 40 and to be honest in the 70's and 80's the nhs was the best service in the world. So i'll have to disagree with your paper quoting piece but having worked and lived in both before and after i am definately 100% out.paulf0203 wrote:UNION JACK wrote:Yes we know aiden your in and probably 2% of other cwu members......120 in my office i only know of 3 remaining.......bye bye E.Uaiden01 wrote:In![]()

Of course it's work related look at the excellent posting from Paulf above so well done CWU for coming out and supporting us as members because if we vote to leave Cameron will be challenged and the right wing will take over and they will definitely attack the employment laws currently enshrined in EU law. We on the centre left know the EU isn't perfect and it does need reforming including the free movement of its people but we can only do that and safeguard our rights by being round the table.barncopxx wrote:With things as they are in the workplace I would have thought that the union would have MUCH better things to spend our subs money on than propaganda like the crap we received through our doors yesterday. Some of the ill thought out negative comments under this posting is very disturbing and these are the people who are putting their children and grandchildrens future in jeopardy some of you sound like thick Union Jack waving football hooligans the vey people that don't make Britain great despite them thinking the opposite. Can they give us all a view of how the UK economy will look after a brexit vote? Why do they think the UK will be treated better than a member state of the EU in respect of getting a trade deal? Can they inform us how to combat the financial market uncertainty for the years it will take to obtain trade deals with the EU and the rest of the world? What comfort can they give to the three million workers whose jobs are connected to exporting to the EU that their jobs are at risk as their products are likely to increase in costs as there is likely to be a tariff added?
I think us decent people who believe in the politics of hope rather than hate who care about the future of their families ,their country and their workers rights, decent human beings look forward to hearing your answers to the above.

The EU put in place a pathway which took us step by step to privativation in my view. Plus the house of Lords is also undemocratic yes
