Stoopid is as stoopid does,tossers.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I heard from someone who claims (key word) to be involved, and he says that these posties are getting everything mech sorted, even the D2Ds, though I somehow doubt that Ballatar (I'm assuming a small office) is getting this special treatment, no premises or not.NewPostieUK wrote:My first thought was 'where are the frames?' But on closer inspection there are no letters, so no frames needed. It's clearly just packet deliveries.
Still mind-boggling..
I also heard they are currently "homeless" as it were, because RM didn't want to continue paying the rent on the previous premises and just didn't bother sorting out new arrangements, despite having a year to do so.
That could all be complete and utter bollocks, I'm just saying what I've heard so please don't shoot the messenger

Being close to their office the rumour run past us was
1) Aberdeen MC have the walk frames, casuals and prepping everything in and tying up, then a 7.5t takes the 8-10 rounds out to the car park, the postmen load up their rounds and parcels into their van and off they go, vans are overnight retention and PDA/takebacks are kept in the local Post Office which is in a Co-Op shop!
2) The premises situation was PO&RM were in a building together, however the man running the PO quit the PO? So the building was still his at the end of the day and pushed RM out on the street? Not sure if either of these are correct as I said... rumours.

All the frames for Ballater are set up at Alterns MC (aberedeen) and prepped there.
Mail failing daily due to no one with any local knowledge and due to lack off staff it has to be done by managers.
In defence of the local Cwu reps there has been no agreement on this and it makes RM look very bad to joe public.
It obviously cannot carry on but why on earth did this not get sorted before they had to leave the old building?
Questions need to be asked and someone really needs to get a grip!!

You can just glimpse a red shipping container in one pic, have they got frames in there where they sort their letters?
Edit, ignore this, crossed posts with postal who answered my question!

what h and s rules do you think are being broken?
At a guess no toilet or washing facilities. Certainly no place to get a hot drink, or place to dry clothes - all mentioned in this HSE publication http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg293.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
What if my employees are working at temporary worksites?
‘So far as is reasonably practicable’ you need to provide flushing toilets and
running water. Portable cabins converted into toilet facilities are available from hire
companies. If this is not possible, consider alternatives such as chemical toilets
and water containers.
Use of public toilets and washing facilities should be a last resort and not
used just because they are the cheaper option. This would not be acceptable
where the provision of better facilities would be reasonably practicable.

Moreton - in - Marsh was similar to this when their building was sold to convert into flats. They moved to Budgens, and although having a building to work in, it was too small, and packets were sorted outside in all weathers. Has it changed in the last 2 years ?

If they were only there for 20 min or half an hour then that would not apply as could fairly easily be argued that it's not a "work site" lots of mobile workers out there who stop for short periods of time even upto an hour, no need to provide facilities for them at every single stopTrueBlueTerrier wrote:zx135 wrote:daveyeff wrote:its got to be against every health and safety rule in the book. if any of us broke those rules we'd be sacked.

Upper Deeside councillor Geva Blackett said: “This car park is a public facility and therefore, there are always other vehicles coming in and out, as well as a number of pedestrians walking through the area.
“The presence of the large Royal Mail van, as well as the many smaller delivery vans and the large trolleys for mail to be moved makes the car park hazardous for both Royal Mail employees and the public.”

Exactly so that's the H&S sorted and its not for RM to risk assess on behalf of the general public .TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Upper Deeside councillor Geva Blackett said: “This car park is a public facility and therefore, there are always other vehicles coming in and out, as well as a number of pedestrians walking through the area.
What's stopping the car park being full when RM turn up and what they gonna do then? Ask them to move? Endorse each item as no access?

No management taking place here at all - certainly not pro-active management. And not much crisis management neither.
Who's in charge here ? Anyone ?
This is what happens when costs are shaved and shaved and people are stretched and stretched.

No! there is too much management taking place and its saying your working in a f***ing car park, now get on with it!Obviously these nut jobs are trying to make savings and while reading the Norway Post report where they have specially built drop off points in their network, an idea starts forming in an Area Managers mind that next time there's a D.O. closure I'm gonna car park the f***ers.jetblack wrote:No management taking place here at all - certainly not pro-active management. Everything after that takes on a life of its own and its usually at this point a trade union steps in and administers a slap to the coupon but looks like this new of working maybe catching on and Bob Gibson may well insist that to improve security an OPGs will be offered training with a guard dog and an 'outdoor car park hat' consisting of a coat hanger and 10 feet of poly will be trialed soon.

But in that case, can I be a manager please ? Operational necessities (H+S and security) will not be attended to and I shall be paid for - er - what exactly ?
The free market doesn't require regulation (apparently) - it will all find its own level
