Living wage gone from £6.50 to £7.20 which is around 10% - not suggesting that is what we expect, but considering the differential and the profits results I would have hoped for around 2.5 - 3% no strings.

I understand there's a bigger fight coming next year with this one plan! But we work hard this year, and deserve a bit more in my opinion. I'm voting NO

Doesn't the amount we have received in dividends effectively add up to about another 1% over the year.
That is where the money for a pay rise has gone.
It would be deluded to expect a high dividend and a high pay rise.
The dividend comes from keeping costs down. That's how capitalism works isn't it?

You are entitled to dividends as a shareholder. You are entitled to a decent pay rise as a hardworking employee. f**k 1.6% right off and vote no

No-one knows what that 75% who couldn't be arsed to vote think, so why worry about them?
It'll likely go through anyway as it's not bad given the current financial climate.

3 years ago we had to accept various changes to our terms and conditions to get our 3%, this is 1.6% with no changes to our terms and conditions, they want to change our pension but are willing to wait until next year to talk it out. Would you prefer they make the changes to our pensions this year so we get a bigger pay rise this year but potentially a year less on a better pension accrualiainwilson wrote:The current financial climate is better than 3 years ago. 3 years ago you got 3% raise so don't be daft and make sure you vote NO to this 1.6% bollox
also worth pointing out that last month when they offered 0.37% you said we should get 1% above inflation, well the rate of inflation used in our pensions is currently 0.3% so we are actually getting more now in this offer than you actually demanded was fair 2 weeks ago!
it is a fair enough deal

So are we the next firm to string the workers up like BHS did and will putting off the pensions rape not affect us more in years to come or are we wishing that things will get better!zx135 wrote:3 years ago we had to accept various changes to our terms and conditions to get our 3%, this is 1.6% with no changes to our terms and conditions, they want to change our pension but are willing to wait until next year to talk it out. You can't keep blaming the pension for not getting the deal you want "next year". It's either management or more so CWU fault and I will vote no to this pathetic pay "deal". The pension is already twice changed in 10 years service for me. I will go work for UPS within 3 years because letter monkeys won't back the parcel monkeys that is feeding them ANY pay rise

Get real, it's a fair deal in the current climate. I still think 1.6 is better than inflation and the best we will be offered. How many other companies would put forward more at the present time? Many are not even offering a pay rise. I also doubt that we'd ever get enough support to strike again with such little faith in the union these days. So what would our bargaining position be? Give us a bigger pay rise or we'll all...... sulk?
Union what Union? Do we have a union?
