The DOM in our unit has agreed with union rep that staff will shortly commence to start on time (no more early starts). Management want to start from a base line & will monitor staff & look at the performance of individuals via the IWT & challenge them accordingly. I think it's all part of the 'one plan' approach.
It will be a culture shock for many members of staff, as over the years they have got used to coming in early & just taking their time with prepping & sorting, wandering about chatting, playing with phones, disturbing others, taking fag breaks etc. It will force change & encourage staff to focus their minds re their work & their attitude towards it. I'm all for it as a lot of staff do require a good kick up the arse..Just get on with the job & stop belly-aching!

Royal Mail's New One Plan!
They can't - the IWT is a resource and planning tool. Its not a performance measure that can be used by tools except on the whole office.look at the performance of individuals via the IWT & challenge them accordingly.

Yes TBT & thanks for the link, however the stark reality is it wont prevent RMM from using the tool & individual walk stats to performance bash staff

Royal Mail's New One Plan!
Or when they are talking in front of their frames till a manager walks around the cornerfishtank wrote:I totally agree with you sugar, it's all very well banging the drum about doing the job properly and members being there own worst enemy, that's all true but doesn't address the reality of the situation.
Everybody is brave on the internet.
The union have to tie royal mail down once and for all about using the correct delivery methods etc but until they do they are just going to keep loosing support and members. lets face it members in D.O's are sick to the back teeth of taking "deals of the century" bullshit off the union only to be left with unachievable workloads and when the reps try to do anything about it all they get from higher up is "use the IR framework". There is too much work put on unit reps with little or no solid support from area or branch. They can't cope and quite frankly the likes of Gibson should go and let someone else who's up for a fight do it.

Good points TMC agree with them completely
Ironically I think Higher Management sometimes put too much pressure on some DOMs and don't let them organise their offices better...especially if it means putting in more hours and costing more money!

Well said Mother!motherhubbard wrote:I can't actually believe you have posted any of that.
It would be acceptable for the p/t staff to all arrive on Shanks' pony while the full timers arrive in their top of the range Range Rovers paid for by their overtime?
It would be acceptable for the unemployed to be begging on the streets because the jobs aren't advertised because some people are used to working 60 hours/week. They now need to work 60 hours/week to keep themselves in the lifestyle they have become accustomed to?
Heaven forbid we should upset the status quo.
It's a bit like Sam and Dave - why shouldn't they squirrel away money in offshore accounts. That is what their ilk have done since time began.
Heaven forbid anyone should suggest things could be done any other way.
Absolutely f***ing gobsmacked.

Royal Mail's New One Plan!
Totally agree FTfishtank wrote:If I was a part-time member of staff at royal mail I would have to think long and hard about whether I would join the union, if I was working in one of these cat 1 and 2 offices expected to be more efficient and carry more than my share of part-time staff to protect the terms and conditions of a few cat 4 and 5 offices I would have to think long and hard about whether I would join the union.
If instead of using the strong to protect the weak you expect the weak to shoulder the burden then come running to your rescue with a national ballot one day you'll be told to get lost.

Royal Mail's New One Plan!
whats really happening with the one plan in our office
improvements and performance placed on all delivery aspects with the help of wpc
we are getting coaching (i use the term loosely) from wpc if
delivery mistake
redirection mistake
doorstep scan failure
in fact any mistake or accidental incident whilst on delivery at all
any and i mean any complaint from customers will put you on a coaching session
at the end of each coaching session wpc reminds you that its only a coaching session to improve your performance and abilities BUT continued sessions or incidents could (and will) lead to councilling and then conduct .you can see where this is going.
the wpc are our fellow members who are effectively supporting mgmt in possible eventual dismissal of colleague
spoke to wpc today and told them this to which they replied "you shoudn,t be doing anything wrong and theirs no prob<
ffs their getting us to turn on one another
mgmt now using one plan for
intimidation bullying purposes
by continually pulling up certain ft members
not pursuing performance against favourites who do that bit extra for them (we all know them)
even blaming duty holders for errors or mistakes without proving person actually responsible ie day off cover
their answer is it must be you its your duty
how can cwu agree to procedures that put its members at risk from fellow members
going to cause lots of bother between staff
maybe that the plan all along

But who are the 'tools' in the office?
