Of Com have recommended the break up of BT which is being resisted by the CWU. Of Com's have powers of enforcement on Royal Mail and clearly that is a huge sanction and threat to Royal Mail.
The CWU will not accept the doing away with legacy payments. All this talk about becoming a non member forgets that the areas which are having the biggest problems at the moment are the areas with the least members and the ones with the most members the least problems. The old saying is still true unity is strength. Remember Royal Mail know via check off the density of members in each office and Branch.

Thanks Dingo, I didn't realise that it was ofcom trying to split BT up, I thought it was mainly competitors.dingo wrote:Of Com have recommended the break up of BT which is being resisted by the CWU. I'd like the CWU to put something on their website to the effect that legacy payments will be protected, especially now that you've got a media director in Chris Webb, who main some bold statements when he got the job.
Regarding coming out of the CWU, it's something I had to listen to alot, and to be honest some of this comes down to the CWU as others have said. It's the part timers that we can't get to join, I even got threatened with harassment by asking opg to join. From talking to opg after their induction it came out that the CWU didn't say much, if at all, they didn't try hard either to get them to join, yes I did complain to branch and it improved for a little while, but soon returned to the old way.
What we are suffering from now, is that we want to get part time opg made up, but are being told because they are on 28 or 30 hour contracts that the business will only increase hours for opg on less than 28 hours and of course we are only taking people on at 20 or 24 contracts over 3 days.

Thanks for the updates Dingo.
You will find that there are more and more people on this forum who sit in the background appreciate your input than there are folk slating you.
Unfortunately, it is the ones who shout about the negativity of your post who get noticed.
Thanks.
