What some people are not aware of is that some Union Reps are getting the best of both worlds. Calling on the troops to support strikes and working on Solidarity. What they fail to say is that during the strike action (where its been part days so far) they have been claiming time back for going around offices doing H&S checks. They have not been loosing out on pay by doing this but encouraging others out to do so.

i AM APPALLED AT YOUR POST. yOU ARE OBVIOUSLY VERY MISINFORMED MOST OF THE REPS i KNOW HAVE LOST MORE MONEY THAN OTHERS SORTING OUT BARBIES OR GETTING IN THE COFFEES FOR THE PICKET LINES. PEOPLE LIKE YOU REALLY MAKE ME SICK THERE ARE A LOT OF DEDICATED REPS, DON'T TAR US ALL FOR THE FEW BAD ONES

I am not misinformed. My Counters rep was one of the ones doing it. Thats how I know. Seen it with my own eyes. So no misinformation here.

Also I was not tarring anyone. I said SOME. Some means that not all, i.e. there would be a certain amount of reps not taking such action.

Don't be so patronising, I said I was appalled and meant it I personally do not know a Rep that does this we are all in the same boat LOSING MONEY (I do know that I used caps meant to) I also know Reps that are SPENDING MONEY they can't afford supporting others with phone calls petrol money etc. You are talking about a FEW so I believe that you are trying to misinform your counters rep is just ONE of MANY reps. In fact I know of at least 2 that give their rest day wages if it falls on a day off to a charity.

I get sick of hearing that Union Rep's don't lose any money during a strike and having to say YES they do!!!! What do the rep's have to do to convince you, show you their pay slips every time???
I have lost every strike day from my wages, but not only that I have brought and taken home people attending the picket line who have no car, I have supplied buckets of KFC and takeaways, beers and BBQ's out of my own pocket. I recognise that although we are all paid the same wage, there are some people worse off financially than myself. I will continue to help those worse off than myself, but I am sick to death of having to "prove" that I am losing money to people who just refuse to believe the truth.

We are not taking pennies here, it could be the difference between being above the red and defaulting on a mortgage payment. Not a nice thing to pressure someone in to just because it suits that other individual to strike.

Good afternoon everyone,lets get a few things straight shall we,JLO is not the union rep in Cwmbran office! The rep in question had been approached by various members of staff prior to the meeting saying that they just could not afford to strike for the two 48 hour periods. During the meeting the rep didnot tell anyone not to strike or say that he was not going to strike himself.After the manager read out royal mails info the rep then read out the unions stance,he then made the point that he would not hold any grudges against people 'IF' they decided they had to come to work. Following this an open forum was available where numerous questions were asked and answered.If 'ROONNY had a problem why didnt he raise it then? Instead he went behind everyones back and posted it here,ok thats his choice,but if he had spoken directly then surely this issue wouldnt have escalated into what it has. By the way Cwmbran has had 100% support in all previous strike action,unlike some of its neighbouring offices,hope thats cleared a few things up.Cheers.

I have just caught up with some of the postings. and was dismayed to read of the verbal attack of Jaffa.
I would like to offer my support to Jaffa he has always been a pillar of strength. As for the the moron who managed to to cause so much bile towards Jaffa is quite a hero isnt he, He didnt have enough about him to question the man at the time of the meeting he rather discredit him undeservingly behind his back!!
