or the other way of looking at it is go and claim mileage and travel time its easy money the 45p a mile soon clocks up, does it matter which doors you are putting letters through? obviously the right ones lol and if you don't know the walk it will take longer and hence more overtime

Start cycling to your office for your start time especially as it's only a 10 min drive, or make your car unavailable.

Just thinking about the travel time angle of it, its actually overtime as say I go to on office and I claim 30mins for travel its actually overtime as it takes place after my finish time - if you finish and start in your contracted hours obviously no travel time but its still a win situation as less walking. When on the odd occasion I have had to finish at my normal time I have only done say half a walk

surprisingly enough the induction tells you pretty much zero about the actual job anyway!

Do you know that to be case? It completely contradicts what has been discussed in earlier posts (see trueblueterrier).

Perhaps there's a misunderstanding of the wording '...claim mileage and travel time...' - of course you can claim mileage but you
don't actually have to 'claim' travel time - it is or should be part of your duty time - only if you go over your duty time at the end
then you should 'claim' it and then as overtime. This is how I understand it and it's what I've always done and never had any problems.
