there is normally a silent pause from our negotiators when an offer is put forward, to decide whether its crap or reasonable and whether or not the members will accept it......obviously its shite.

union probably too embarrassed to even tell us the measly offer thats been made. surely we are worth more than the 0.37% thats speculated? lets see how it unfolds i guess......

there is no way we will get a decent pay rise with the way the managers situation is - so everyone should really lower their expectations

Have a look at the FT website today as there is an article regarding the 2016 pay talks.

I've listed a few points as I'm not sure about the copywrite

The CWU are aiming for 2 - 3 % and a reduction in hours per week.
The company aiming for improvement's in saving money
The wage bill is more half Royal Mails revenue, hence the drive for less people and more flexible ways of working.

Also
In addition, the union is seeking the renewal of pledges from Royal Mail not to outsource, sell or transfer any parts of its business, as well as assurances against compulsory redundancies and zero-hour contracts.

Royal Mail prides itself on paying its workers well and sees this as key to staff retention and quality of service.

The CWU is understood to be keen to wrap up the pay round by early May with a one-year deal, before moving on to the bigger issue of pensions.

Royal Mail contributes about £400m in cash a year under an agreement that will expire in 2018, beyond which it has said its defined benefit scheme may not be affordable.

Royal Mail confirmed that talks with the CWU were under way.

In a separate development, members of the Unite union that represents 4,900 managers at Royal Mail last week voted for industrial action in a dispute over pay.

My personal view is that Royal Mail has got itself into a corner. On one hand it must avoid Industrial action as it is a private company now. I/A would send the share price down and investors will bail out, yet it has to make enough savings to keep shareholders happy by making attractive dividends.
On top of that is the wages and the payments of £400 million per year to the pension are making things harder for the business.
I feel that we are now paying the real price for our free shares and that it will cost us badly in the future with terms and conditions being eroded in the long run.
That is why it is so important to support the CWU.
