And even if that was the case, we aren't taking industrial action to support Cupar DO. We are taking IA to support a colleague who was sacked without any evidence. Those voting no obviously think that is acceptable and wouldn't want union support should the same thing happen to them. Disgrace!
Rumour has it that staff at Edinburgh MC got told from management that Cupar and St Andrews delivery offices did not go out on strike in the past and crossed the picket line.
These rumours have swung the yes voters to NO because of this.
Others are thinking he wants more money.
Let's get one thing straight here its not about the money in principle it's that this sort of behaviour could happen to any one of us.

Why do you think they didn't come out on strike the last time? It would be interesting to know where you got this information from and why you feel the need to accuse an office of being strike breakers and potentially damage the unions campaign for a yes vote without any genuine source.

There are issues with Scotland No 2 branch that I can't go into on here but it's time HQ pulled away the curtain and had a peek. Unfortunately I don't think it's limited to one branch.
This wasn't about David Mitchell, it wasn't about Cupar DO. This was about a company who can
suspend and then sack you without any concrete evidence. This was about a company who when told to reinstate David Mitchell
ignored the ruling. This was about all of us who could end up in the same situation because of ineptitude or simply because they just want rid of you.
Fact: David Mitchell wants his job back. He doesn't want compensation, he wants to return to work.
Fact: Cupar DO did go out.
The time has come to stop turning the other cheek, time to stop shaking our heads in bitter dismay, time to stop mumbling our angry words.

Royal Mail got there point over and gave a strong reason why he wasn't getting his job back. The union was very quiet and bar a vague letter didn't really give a full explanation. There was a lot of rumours about me Mitchell which the Cwu haven't mentioned anything about and I think the result wasn't really unexpected.

I don't know that the rumours are. The bold jambomatt suggested there were a lot of rumours. I asked him if he voted no based on these rumours.
Bottom line, the CWU required a strong yes vote to send a message to Royal Mail. RM will see this ballot as a hugely divided union (even if it wasn't a national ballot) and will likely use it as justification for just steamrollering the workforce.
I don't even now know if the CWU can risk escalating this nationally!

That is utterly shocking! I hope the 48% can sleep well at night, knowing their employment can be terminated at any point with no evidence of misconduct.
They just bury their heads in the sand and think it can't happen to them,but it doesn't surprise me,a lot of people have the robustness and backbone of a rather soggy blancmange.
